"This is so much worse," I mumbled as I scrunched my nose up. Elio's plan somehow involved a side entrance into the juvie and now, I was following him and Ronnie through a crowd of people.

"Elio, what is this place?" Veronica asked as she almost shoulder-checked someone. "And why are we at the juvie?"

"It's a decommissioning rec center. I didn't tell you beforehand because I didn't want you calling in the calvary," He explained as we turned a corner. "At least not while I'm here."

Veronica scoffed and tossed a piece of blonde hair over her shoulder. I pulled my beanie further down to cover my ears as we came to a stop against a railing. In the middle of an empty lap pool was a huge padded mat with someone practicing punches on it.

"My patience is wearing thin," Veronica huffed as she glanced around.

Elio rolled his eyes. "Easy, tigress. It's just about show time." As if on cue, a guard led another individual with a bag over their head up onto the mat.

"Oh, my God," I whispered as everything clicked in my head. This wasn't just any fight.

"I'd recognize those abs anywhere," Veronica gasped as the bag was pulled off to reveal our favorite redhead. "Archie?"

Elio's hand landed on my shoulder as he squeezed it lightly. A bell rang somewhere else in the room before the fighting started.

"Vanna, we have to get him out of here," Ronnie's eyes were wide as she watched her boyfriend dodge a punch.

My gaze followed as Archie landed a hit near his opponent's nose. "Ron, this isn't just ditching class we're talking about," I noted as I glanced at her. "This is a prison."

No doubt, I was concerned about Archie just like she was, but the risks in place were a lot worse than just a detention. This was Hiram we were dealing with. If he heard even the slightest indication that we were here, that was it. We were screwed.

The moment the fight ended, Elio was pointing Veronica down a side hallway where she could meet Archie. I walked towards the exit with Elio, both of us silent amongst the chattering audience.

"There was a reason I invited you today, Savanna," Elio said as he slowed his pace. "I've spoken to your sister on multiple occasions but never you. Why?"

I shrugged slightly as I kept my eyes on the ground, my fingers playing with my necklace. "I'm not really interested in pursuing the family business," I admitted. "It's not my kind of scene."

Elio pursed his lips. "Understandable." He paused as we climbed in his car. "I heard you're a Serpent as well?"

My words faltered briefly at the random question. How did he find out? "Uh, yeah. Since just before summer started, actually."

"Does your family know about that?" He asked as he started the car before backing out of his spot.

I shook my head as he started driving towards the exit he informed Veronica of. "Just Ronnie. And I'd like to keep it that way, if you don't mind."
