They say when life gives you lemons, make lemonade. What happens when life gives you an organ-stealing cult, a horror game come to life, and drug-dealing drama all while you're trying to have a normal junior year of high school? Savanna Marrows is...

"Attention students. We are hereby closing the student lounge. Please exit immediately."
With a groan, I pushed myself out of my seat next to Cheryl and began making my way out among my classmates. This was the next step in the process, obviously. They had been canceling activities all week since the cheerleaders dropped to the floor in the hallway.
"First they cancel sports and extracurriculars, now they're shutting down the lounge? What is going on?" I mumbled as we entered the crowded hallway.
Veronica nodded in agreement before facing the redhead between us. "As Student Body President, please tell me you've got some insider information to share."
Cheryl pursed her lips in consideration. "Though my powers as Dauphine of Riverdale High aren't absolute yet, I am CC'd on all school board emails. And they're having a meeting tonight. I think to discuss shutting down the school. And Veronica, your parents are leading the charge."
"Of course they are," Ronnie scoffed as we came to a stop. "That is exactly what my dad did with Southside High. And he definitely had ulterior motives then."
Suddenly, a loud alarm rang through the building as Weatherbee came storming around the corner with men in hazmat suits.
"Oh, my God." My hand latched on Veronica's arm as they started grabbing people. "Now Riverdale High is officially a hot zone." Weatherbee turned, his eyes widening as he pointed at my sister. "Veronica, run!"
Cheryl and I pushed her away as she sprinted out the side doors, hopefully heading off campus. I watched as multiple classmates were taken out of the hallway to be checked over for any trace of the so-called "infection".
"Hey," Cheryl pulled me out of my trance as we stepped into the almost empty library. "How has everything been? Are you feeling okay?"
I took a deep breath and held my books a little closer. "Bruises are starting to fade, so that's good, and-"
"No, no." Cheryl cut me off before catching herself. "I mean, yes, absolutely that's good, but that's not what I meant."
I tilted my head. "I'm not sure I'm following."
"I mean, are you looking over your shoulder? Can you still feel-"
"Every inch of his hands and the stinging under my skin? Yeah," I swallowed the knot in my throat. "Being unconscious didn't save me from any of that. I think my mind filled the gaps in for me. It's hard to eat. Sometimes in the dark, I can see his figure in the shadows."
Cheryl nodded sadly. "I was that way too, after the whole thing with..." She trailed off, seemingly unable to get Nick St. Clair's poisonous name out of her mouth. "Him. But I surrounded myself with different people and found ways to keep my mind off of it." She gently pulled my hand into hers. "If you ever need anyone, I'm always here. And Tee-Tee and I would spend days with you if you wish. We're only a call away."
