In some moments, I was grateful for having a couple of shifts at Pop's throughout my week, especially now when I knew Jughead was running simulations with the Serpents to head into the field with FP, something I wanted to be doing more than anything right now.

However, working at Pop's was keeping my mind off of it, even with Betty Cooper sitting across the counter from me as she spoke to my sister. "Is there any way that maybe you can see this divorce as a good thing?" The blonde girl asked.

Veronica set down a strawberry shake in front of our friend. "I'm trying to find a lining of even tarnished silver but... my parents raised me to believe that family is the most important thing in the world."

"I'm so sorry, V," Betty frowned at the situation.

"Clearly they don't live by that with their kids, Ronnie," I commented as I finished making a shake for myself. "At least, they haven't in the past year."

Our conversation was interrupted as Evelyn Evernever stepped up to the counter with a stack of papers in her hand. "Veronica, hi. Do you mind if I hang some fliers? The Farm's having an open house tomorrow."

"An open house?" Betty repeated as she stared at the girl next to her.

Evelyn nodded. "Yes, we are opening our door to visitors. Everyone is welcome to tour our renovated premises, meet the Farm elders, and learn about our values and practices."

Veronica stared at her blankly. "Go ahead, Evelyn."

"Thank you." With that, she stepped away from the counter to place her paper in the window.

Betty, on the other hand, was staring at Veronica with big, curious eyes. "Of course, I'll go with you," Ronnie answered the silent question with a smile. "Let me know the time, B, and I'm there."

Despite my curiosity in The Farm, I had decided to let Betty handle this one on her own, especially due to her family's involvement. I, on the other hand, was busy dealing with the chaos of my parents' separation and the lingering notion of rejoining the Serpents.  I was conflicted, for sure, since Toni's spot with the Poisons still remained available, but I made a promise to Jughead and literally have it inked in my skin to stay with the Serpents. I didn't know what to do.

Luckily, it seemed I was getting all kinds of distractions throughout the day. Veronica and I returned to the Pembrooke after work only to walk into Mom yelling at the phone.

"No, I should be there if only for appearances!" She argued before slamming the phone down, muttering a curse in Spanish. "Damn it, Hiram!" She quickly rushed to get out of the room.

"Mom!" I interrupted her escape by calling her name, causing her to turn and face us.

She shook her head, anger evident on her features as she remained in her place. "Your father is finally opening that damn prison of his. There's gonna be a ribbon-cutting ceremony with Governor Dooley in attendance. And he has very selfishly decided that I, the Mayor, am not invited."
