The car ride was silent, as expected, and before I knew it, Kurtz was grabbing my arm to lead Jughead and me away from the vehicle. We walked along for a minute before stopping as Kurtz pulled the blindfolds away. "Well done, Hellcaster and Empress. An unlikely pairing, yet you seem to conquer all in your path. You've made it through the Valley of Darkness, and now, your vision has been restored."

"Where are we?" I asked as I observed the area. We were clearly at the junkyard but there were little fires raging around us in a circle. "Where's Jellybean?"

Kurtz shook his head at my questions, facing Jughead instead. "Surely you must be familiar with the story of The Lady and the Tiger. Behind one of these doors is your sister. Behind the other is your doom. Your final challenge is simple, Jughead. Choose one."

Two refrigerators stood ahead of us, both marked with Gargoyle symbols. Jughead shared a glance with me before running forward to open one. When it was empty, he moved to the next one without another word, only for it to be empty as well.

"Hey, what the twist?" Jughead turned around to come face to face with a gun pointed straight at his face.

"Get in," Kurtz demanded as he walked closer towards the empty refrigerators.

My eyes widened at the sight of the weapon. "No! Leave him alone!" I ran forward, my arm wrapping around Kurtz's throat as I tried to pull his arm down and away from Jughead. The gamemaster whipped around and pushed me off, sending me to the muddy ground.

"One more move like that and neither of you will be getting out of this game alive," He hissed as he faced me before turning back to Jug. "Get in the ice tomb, and the princess will be freed with but a phone call."

I pushed myself off the cold ground while Jughead shook his head. "No, not until I know both Jellybean and Savanna will be safe."

Kurtz growled at the bargaining. "The Empress must complete her own quest. As for the princess..." He held his phone to his ear after dialing some numbers. "Put her on." He held the phone out to Jughead.

My boyfriend took the device quickly. "Hey, Jellybean? Are you alright? Where are you?" There was a pause as hopefully, his sister was responding on the other line. "It's okay," He choked out, "I'll see you soon, alright?"

Kurtz tore the phone out of Jughead's hands all while keeping the weapon trained on his chest. "Get in!" He demanded as he held the door of the refrigerator open.

"Alright, alright!" Jughead held his hands up in defense before stepped up into the box. "I did what you want, tell Ricky to let her go."

That little punk ass is going to regret the fact that he didn't skip town when he had the chance.

"Calm down, Hellcaster." Kurtz put the phone back up to his ear. "Acolyte? The Hellcaster's been contained. You may kill the princess."

In the blink of an eye, Kurtz slammed the door shut and dropped the phone, completely locking Jughead inside as my boyfriend shouted in anger. "You cheated! No!"
