The Unexpected

Chapter 1

(EMMA'S POV)

"Yes okay, Mum!" I say as I ran up to my bedroom and closed the door.

We leave for Paris in about 2 days. Every time we go on holiday, my mum panics about every single thing. Which, in turn, makes us panic.

I live with my mum and my elder sister. My parents separated when my sister and I were kids. We don't really think much about it as our mum filled in that every little gap that was missing in our lives. The three of us are like best friends and no one can ever break us apart.

The next day:

I woke up with my laptop next to me and forgot that I was watching RuPaul's Drag Race last night. I must've fallen asleep.

I grabbed my phone and checked on my social media, when there was a sudden knock on my door, "Emma, breakfast is ready!" I went out of bed and ran downstairs to the smell of pancakes.

Our living room is all lit up for the holidays. I felt kind of sad that we're not spending Christmas at home. This year, we've decided to go overseas for the holidays for a change. It's only gonna be the three of us but I know it's gonna be fun still.

Today's the day where I say goodbye to my best friend, Ali. We're both not home for Christmas as she's off to her mum's hometown for the holidays. I've known Ali since we were in kindergarten. Our parents said that we were inseparable and I couldn't agree more about that statement haha. We're both very emotional so every time we go away for the holidays, it's like we're never gonna see each other again. How are we gonna survive when we go off to University? I don't know. I guess that's for another day.

Ali and I spent the whole day talking, laughing, and watching christmas movies. We do this often when we're on break. It's our senior year so I don't know how it's gonna be next year. I tried not to think about it and just enjoyed each other's company.

My mom invited her to stay over for dinner and after, we said our goodbyes. It was emotional, but I'm sure we're gonna talk on the phone or have a Skype call.
