Chapter 20

(EMMA'S POV)

"3..... 2.....1!!!! HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!!!"
We all jump with excitement.

"Happy New Year, mum!" I hugged and kissed her.

"Happy New Year, sweetie."

I greeted everyone when I saw a notification on my phone.

"I was gonna call you but I knew you have people over so I didn't want to disturb you. Happy New Year, babe! May this year be wonderful for us both! Crazy that as of right now, we're living in 2 different years haha. Anyways, I just wanted to wish you a happy new year and I really wish I was there to kiss you right now. Miss you more than you know!! 😘❤️"

I smiled at his text and put down my phone. I'll reply to him later.

We all head to our table and grabbed some food since there's a lot.

After about an hour of talking, dancing, and singing, Ali and her family left.

We didn't bother to clean out everything tonight since we were all so tired.

I got in the shower and knocked out on my bed.

(DANIEL'S POV)

I only had about 4 hours of sleep last night. I got up from my bed and went to the kitchen.

I woke up a little late so my mum and Anna have been awake for quite some time.

"Good morn- afternoon!" Mum said when I walked past them in the living room.

"Afternoon." I say, sounding all tired.

I wasn't in the mood to make anything special, so I just got some cereal and apple juice. Most people think apple juice is disgusting, but I really like it.

I took my breakfast with me in the living room and joined my mum and my sister. They were watching some show that's usually not my cup of tea but I sat with them nonetheless.

After breakfast, I went back to my room and started working on some music.

I was wearing my headphones when Jack suddenly scared me from the back. "DANI!"

"Jesus Jack you scared me!"

"Umm, that was the point?"

I rolled my eyes.

"What are you doing?" he asked.

"Just writing some songs."

"Can I see it?"

"Not now. I'm not done with it yet."

"Well, okay."

For a moment, he just scrolled through his phone and I went back to what I was doing.

"Jack?"

"Yea?"

"Remember that girl I told you guys about? Uhh Emma? The one I met in Paris?"

"Yeah, what about her?"

"Well uhh we're kinda together now."

"No way, you're kidding?"

"Nope. I kinda...fell for her and I just couldn't get myself to leave and let go of such an amazing girl like her. I don't know man, she makes me so so happy. Just from the moment I saw her, I knew...I KNEW..I want to get to know her."

"Well dude whatever it is, I'm happy for you. I just want you to be happy, you know that, right?"

"Yeah, I know. Thanks, brother."

Later on, the other boys came over and I just straight up told them about Emma. I didn't want to hide it any further. I'm glad that they're all supportive about it. Corbyn even got extra excited for me. Him and Christina have been together since I don't know how long, but I know it's been hard for them. With us touring all the time and Christina being in New York, they rarely get to see each other. It's somehow a relief that someone I know understands how difficult long distance relationship are and with me, even the timezones.

The boys and I just had a little New Year's Eve celebration with some snacks and drinks. It's all simple honestly, since we all are content with each other's company. Our families were there too, so it was quite crazy but simple.

It's a new year which means there's new opportunities and we all get a chance to start fresh. I'm that person who sets goals at the start of the year and try to achieve em throughout. Last year, I managed to achieve almost all of my goals, including releasing new music which is still a little bit crazy to me.

It's only been almost 2 years since I met the boys and they've been my rock. They're like the brothers I never had. Last year have been so good to me career wise and also being able to meet Emma. That's like the cherry on top. It's been an amazing year and I can't wait to see what the new year brings to us.
