Chapter 19

(EMMA'S POV)

It was New Year's Eve. I haven't seen Ali since we got back so we decided to hang out.

I got ready, put some light makeup on and picked an outfit. I decided to be casual and put on some black ripped skinny jeans, with a white shirt and tied it up in a knot.

None of us drive yet so we just met at the bus stop since she lives close to me.

When I went downstairs, my mum saw me about to leave and asked, "where are you going?"

"Oh, I'm hanging out with Ali at the mall. Don't worry, We'll be back before it gets dark for the celebration."

Every year, Ali's family and I celebrate the New Year's together. I don't know why but it became our little tradition.

Our families have gotten closer over the years. They always invited us to their gatherings and we did the same to them. Since it's just me, my mom and my sister, we didn't mind adding three more to the family. Ali's an only child, so I guess that's why we've gotten close. It's like I have another sister!

I walked to the bus stop and saw Ali waiting for me. We did this thing where we ran to each other in slow mo and hugged. I've missed her so much. It felt like forever since I last saw her.

"EMMM!!!!!! I'VE MISSED YOU SO MUCH!!!"

"ME TOO, ALI. HOW ARE YOU? HOW WAS YOUR CHRISTMAS?"

"It was fun! It was nice getting to see my mum's side of the family again since we don't see them that often. But how have you been?" she says, while moving her eyebrows.

"Well, I'm doing great. But Ali, I have so much stuff to tell you."

Before she could reply, the bus arrived. We got up and rode the bus. It was a short journey. Just about 10-15 minutes from our houses.

The first thing we did was look for something to eat. It's 1pm and we haven't eaten anything for the day. We went to this restaurant that we always go to after school. Their breakfast menu is amazing but sadly, we weren't able to catch it since we got here late. Nonetheless, we ordered our usuals. Burger with fries for me and some pasta for Ali. Quite big for a first meal but we don't mind.

While waiting for our food, Ali asked, "Okay so, what's the tea?"

"Okay, well...remember..uhh..Daniel?"

"Umm..yeah the guy you said was in Why Don't We?"

"Yup..well..uhh..we're..together...now."

Ali looked at me, shocked. Then she did a little scream.

"Ali, shh! There's people around here!"

"Okay. I'm sorry I'm sorry. I just got excited for a moment. OMG TELL ME MORE!"

"Well, it was during Christmas. My mum invited him and his family to go with us to Disneyland-"

"Wait, does your mum know about it?"

"Yeah, of course. We told our parents right away."

"Okay, good. Continue."

Our food arrived before I could continue my story. Of course, us being teenagers, we took pictures of our food and took a selfie together.

"So, what were you saying again?" She says with a mouth full of food.

"After we went to Disneyland, he wanted to talk to me. He said he wanted to get to know me more. I was hesitant to commit since we live so far away from each other and he's famous for god's sake. I'm just a normal 17 year old Asian girl who usually just fantasises about dating a band member. I didn't expect for it to come true. I was worried about his fans as well. How they would react but I tried to put that aside cause I like him. I never felt anything like this before."
