emma pov

I met Jax at the beach at 10. He brought some sandwiches and water bottles. After a few minutes of eating I finally asked "what did your dad do?"

"You really want to know?" he asked.

I thought about this then finally said, "Yes I do."

Jax told me all about how his dad spanks him really hard and he gets bruises.

"Do they hurt?" I asked. He had a few tears in his eyes! They obviously hurt then, Jax never cries!

"It's okay, Jaxy." I reply with sympathy.

"You know the only reasons I cry is because my mom, you know...family issues with my dad. I would cry if we broke up I mean you're the only girl I have ever truly loved."

"Aww, thanks. I love you so much," I said. I could see Jax smile

"Well, I only have to live with this for another year, then I can join this independent living program when I turn 16. Then two more years, and I'll be 18 and go to college."

"That's good," I say and give a small smile. "Let me see the bruise, Jax."

"You sure?" he asks.

"Yes," I reply.

He folds up his sleves and I see black and blue bruises and marks and red cuts.

"Wow," I say and Jax gives a small smirk.

"Have you ever cut because of it?" I ask.

Jax looked at me then sighed. "No. I thought about it a few times and was close to doing it. I mean I grabbed a knife a few times and started touching my skin with it, but I either hesitated or got interrupted but I don't have any marks"

"Oh, well am I the only one who knows?" I ask.

"No, my sister's friend knows and one of my mates from Australia."

"Oh, okay," I reply.

"This doesn't change anything between us, right?" Jax asks.

"Of course not!"

"Okay, good."

It's almost 11:30 now and I said I would be home by 11:45.

I tell him l love you and to stop by tonight with diego for my sleepover. He says okay and I kiss him goodbye.

maddie pov

I am getting ready for Emma's sleepover. We're really close friends now.

RING RING

It's Daniel. I hit ignore and he calls again. After the seventh call I answer.

"WHAT DO YOU WANT?!"

"Can you cast a love spell on Lacey for me?"

"Listen, me and Emma are friends and she's dating Jax so-wait you said Lacey?!"

"Ya, can you?"

"Umm sure."

"Okay, I'm coming over in five."

After five minutes, Lacey texts me. (lacey bold maddie italics)

no emma is dating jax and jax loves emma
