Chapter 3

I laid my head on my brothers chest and listened for his heart. "I think I'm gonna spend the night here Zetsu" I said. I yawned feeling tired and fell asleep with my head on his chest. His heart beat making me fall asleep.

"Zetsu!" I yelled running to him. "Daddy's hurting mommy again! He's hurting mommy badly! What should we do!?" I asked hysterical. "We can't help" Zetsu said. I started to cry. "All we can do is embrace that pain and make ourselves stronger. When we are old enough we can fight back. But until then we are forced to watch" he said looking down. "Okay big bro" I said sniffling. "Catherine?" He questioned. "Yes" I replied looking into his eyes. Tears rolling down my cheeks. Zetsu put a hand on my head. "No matter what I'll protect you" he said. "I know you will" I said crying. Zetsu had a tear roll down his cheek as it started to rain.

Later that evening I walked to my big brothers room. He was screaming again. I cracked the door opened and saw his eyes wide. His laughs were loud and scattered. My brother sounded insane. I jumped back terrified. My mother covering my eyes. "Your brothers special Catherine. Hes the product of a monster. All that abuse has gotten to his head sweety" she said. She made me look at her as she had a smile. "But don't worry. Those laughs and that violent look in his eye is for your father. Not you. He never look at you like that" she said. "Now go back on your side of the mansion and leave his side" she said taking my hand. I had always wondered why they separated me and my brother at night. I got from my mother grip and ran to him. I opened the door and Zetsu immediately stopped struggling against the chains on his leg. He had tears as he looked at me. "Hey little sister" he said crying. "Did I scare you?" He asked. "Brother. Why are you chained up? Why were you laighing like that?" I asked shaking. "Because the voice in my head keeps taking control. It keeps telling me to kill that man" he said with a smile that was wide and crooked. I fell back and had tears. My body shaking from fear. "Brother?" I asked. "Haha!" He just laughed.

My head shot up as I gasped. I held my head crying. "Another nightmare" I whispered. I got up and pat my brothers head. I looked at the time and saw it was almost time to get ready for school. I leaned over and kissed my brothers head. "When you wake up. I'm gonan throw a party for us both. When you wake up these nightmares will leave me. I just know they will. I'm terrified of what your gonna be like when you wake up. what your gonna end like when you see how messed up I am" I said grabbing his hand. "Maybe you'll attend school with me. Maybe you'll meet my friend. Maybe you'll see your friend again" I said. I grabbed my school bag and left.

I got half way to school when I had to stop. Looking around at a sign I could only see the colors on it. Realization struck me lightning when I noticed everything was extremely blurry. "Oh no! My contacts!" I said searching my bag. "Did I take them out? I dont remember!" I said searching more. I felt my glasses and pulled them out. "This will have to do" I said calming down. I put them on and walked to school. Rain hitting my cheeks as I wakked without anything to protect me from the rain. I found a little store and took cover under it. I stood there and started to ring out my clothes. That's when someone stood next to me. "Here Catherine" Akira said. He held out an umbrella. I looked at him and blinked processing. "No Akria its fine" I said. "Then at least walk with me" he said. "No its fine really. I'll let it die down. I don't want to be any trouble" I said. He shook his head and grabbed my arm dragging me along as well walked to school. I stayed quiet and smiled at how much he already cared. "I heard you go to the hospital everyday?" He asked quietly. I froze and we both stopped walking. "Its nothing" I said looking at my feet. My hair falling over my face. I looked up with the best fake smile I could muster. "When you really wanna tell me I'm here" he said continuing to walk. I followed close behind. "I never got your contact info Akira" I said. "I think we should hang out outside of school sometime" I said. He smiled a little and nodded.

We got to school and Ryuji ran up. "Hey dude!" He said. He paused when he saw me. "Why is she with you?" He asked. He looked at my face and he looked shocked. "You wear glasses!?" He asked. "No I wear contacts. The glasses are just for now cause I lost my contacts" I explained. I smiled. "I'll leave you with your other friend Akira" I said walking away.

I got to and empty hallway and the girls surronded me. "Look its that delinquents girlfriend. to bad for you he's not here to protect you now" the main one said. I got grabbed as they threw me to the floor. "He's not my boyfriend. Hes my friend" I said. "Oh she speaks back!" The girls laughed at that. They all started to kick me. I teared up from pain. I was to weak to fight back again. I just wanted to be saved. But no one was gonna save me. The girls had enough of kicking and insulting me. They took my bag and dug through it. They took my wallet and left the rest scattered on the ground. I sat up in pain and reached for my stuff. I started to collect it all back together. People just walked by not helping.
