Our Dog: Belle went missing today. She'd been gone for almost an hour. She'd gotten out without us knowing and since then I've been searching my butt off for her.
And I'm going to just start off by saying Thank God for great neighbors...
We live in back acres by farms so all of our neighbors are up the road in front of us. As we only know two of them very well and the others we've never met. But they all know Belle.
They love Belle.
One saw her this morning, she was helping him in his garden and he said he tried to catch her but she wouldn't come within 5 feet of him because she is scared of males she doesn't know. And he's been keeping an eye out for her so I went immediately to him and he told me this and he told me where he saw her go. And the others said they had tried to catch her as well.
So I'm on my bike, biking around, trespassing everywhere to find her and I'm getting worried. And this older gentleman in a red car drove up to me and asked me if I was looking for a chocolate lab and I frantically said yes. And he explained he'd saw her this morning and he knew exactly which neighbor she belonged to and he said he and his buddy had been trying to catch her all morning.
They'd wasted almost an hour of their time and gas searching for her..
I'm sorry but that restores my faith in humanity and in my neighbors.
His buddy came up to me as well and said: "WE GOT HER! We managed to corral her over to You're closest neighbors house!"
And I have never been so grateful to strangers in my whole life. Because across the road she was barking at the neighbors dog. With the neighbor I talked to first keeping her in that area.
So I dropped everything and ran over there to get her. And she came running and jumped on me.
She saw the neighbor in his garden and wanted to be close to him and apparently wandered to far and got lost. Poor thing..
And our neighbors had come together trying to corral her to our house and catch her for longer then I had been searching for.
I'm just so grateful to have her back.. all to the help of neighbors who don't even know us.
Well now. We all know each other. And we talked and introduced ourselves and well now we're friends.
#bringingstrangerstogether
Needless to say this made my morning both awful and great.
