1 week later

Xander's POV

Hannah had taken my number and she kept me updated about Lele. They had let her out of the hospital a few days ago, and I had the urge to rush over, throw my arms around her and stay like that, but I stopped myself.

4 broken ribs, 1 broken leg, migraines, and constant annoyance with a wheelchair kept me away. She needed her space, I told myself. I was sitting on my couch, cuddling with the same blanket from the night she came over, and watched TV.

I felt better that she was going to make a full recovery, but still felt bad. Hannah had told me that the guy in the room with us was her boyfriend, Twan, and the two guys outside were both of Lele's exes, Juanpa and Jack.

Juanpa was the one that seemed familiar to me. We used to go to high school with each other. Hannah had also told me that Jack had crashed into Lele's car and ran away, unhurt. He hadn't wanted to kill Lele, but he wanted to hurt Juanpa.

He assumed if Lele was hurt, Juanpa would be. He sucked up to it and 'befriended' Juanpa as a trick. He's still on the run from the police.

I pulled the blanket up to my nose and got lost in my thoughts other than the show I was watching.

Will she still remember me?

Will she still be able to answer my question?

Is she not into me?

I really, really liked this girl and I needed her to be okay. My doorbell sounded and I was awake from my head again. I set the blanket down and turned of my TV, hurrying to the door. I opened it, and to my surprise...

There was Lele in a wheelchair. Hannah was smiling behind her, holding the handles. I stared in amazement at Lele, she was smiling too. She put out her hand, I took it, and we kissed.
