** Avery POV **

Oh glazed eyes, empty hearts

Buying happy from shopping carts

Nothing but time to kill

Sipping life from bottles

Tight skin, bodyguards

Gucci down the boulevard

Cocaine, dollar bills

And…

My happy little pill

Take me away

Dry my eyes

Bring color to my skies

My sweet little pill

Take my hunger

Lie within

Numb my skin

“Sorry miss we are not allowed to let her go into your custody. You are underage. Either a guardian or a lawyer need to be here in order for her to be let out.” Raynah stood by the bars of the cell staring at me. Her cheeks and eyes red from crying.

“Can you at least tell me what happened so I can give her parents a reason to come here.” I asked.

“She was intoxicated and got into a fight with the cashier at KFC.” She said as i gave Raynah a surprised look.

“Am I allowed to talk with her?” I asked still looking at Raynah.

“Not until we are able to get in touch with her parents.” The lady on the other side of the glass window said to me.

“I don’t have their number but I am sure if you let me use her phone I can get you it.” I replied.

“I have their number.” Connor said getting off his chair and walking towards the window with his phone. Sliding his phone under the little slot at the bottom window the lady dialed the number into the phone waiting for a reply.

Mrs. Lee?.” She began to speak. “Yes we have your daughter Raynah here. California State Police Department in San Diego. Yes we have her in our custody. Were are unable to let her out without you or your lawyer. No we must keep her till you get here. I’m sorry I don’t makeup the rules. She was intoxicated and got into a fight with a KFC cashier. Yes she has been here for about three hours now. No we need you to be here. I am sorry. Yes…Yes I know. Let me give you one of my supervisors. I am going to transfer you know if you will just stay on hold.”  You could her Raynah’s mom yelling at her husband to get the car.

My glance turns to Raynah. Her pleading eyes staring back at me. I mouthed to her that everything was going to be ok. But was it? Her parents would probably make her move back home now. What am I going to do without her here? I turn around and walk towards Connor who’s sitting down with his head between his hands.

“I don’t get it.” He said shaking his head.

“What don’t you get?” My face turning from confused to concerned.

“Me and Ray have been friends since we were in diapers. She rarely drank, she never fought anyone. Why know?” He asked. Confusion flashed throughout his face.
