SCREECH!

Stepping out, Alex hurriedly slammed the car door and grabbed a small kit bag from the back. Then, he frantically rushed through the hospital corridors - Georgie had only just been transferred to the infirmary and he had arrived immediately to come and see her.

"Sorry. Excuse me." He politely pushed his way through the streams of patients, doctors and nurses who were strolling aimlessly down the long and winding corridors. Eventually, he noticed a sign pointing to 'Ward 56' and his anticipation to see Georgie got the better of him as he began to sprint in the direction of the arrow.

"I'm never letting you go again, Georgie." He announced matter of factly as he burst into the room. He then perched on the side of her hospital bed and clamped her hands between his.

She puckered her lips as he kissed her. "You saved my life, Alex." She gasped, pointing to the shattered frame on the side.

He smiled weakly. "Well it makes a change. Usually you are saving mine." He chuckled, planting a kiss on her forehead. But, as he sat back his whole demeanour changed.

Without warning the smile on Alex's face straightened. He suddenly stiffened, now appearing really intimidating and menacing. Glazed over; his eyes turned fiery, he clicked his knuckles, puffed out his chest and prepped every muscle for a fight. Curiously, Georgie turned her head in the direction that Alex was now angrily staring in. She watched as Captain James peered through the window, caught eye contact with Alex and then swiftly backed away, turning sharply on his heels.

Once James had gone, Alex deflated like a balloon and changed completely back into how he was before the frightening stare down.

"What was all that about?" Georgie asked, concerned.

Alex sighed and kissed the back of her hand.

"I want it to be just us, Georgie. Just you and me. I don't want the army to come between us anymore." He admitted, allowing himself for once, to feel vulnerable.

"Aww! Alex has a heart!" Georgie cooed mockingly. She was shocked that he had been so sincere and she wondered if they really had a future together.

"I'm being serious, Georgie." He muttered solemnly.

"I know you are." She laughed. "I don't quite know what to say."

Alex frowned and sat back seeming disappointed. "You don't feel the same way then?" He asked, backing off a little.

"Of course I do, Alex. I just didn't think you felt that way towards me." She confessed, setting aside her own insecurities and staring deep into his luscious dark brown eyes.

A huge smile etched its way across his face as he gracefully placed his palms on her cheeks and kissed her passionately.

"I don't want to waste anymore time. This tour was a test, Georgie. I didn't know if we had a future together. Whether my feelings for you were just getting over my divorce and whether your feelings were just trying to deal with the lose of Elvis."

She continued to listen intently. Her heart raced a little faster in prediction of what he would say next.

"I can't speak for you, Georgie. But my feelings for you are real. When I found out you were injured on tour I couldn't begin to imagine a life without you in it." He whispered softly, but meant every word.

A single tear tumbled down Georgie's rosy cheeks as he gently brushed it away with his thumb. "Did you know, when I was being held hostage, my last wish was for you to know how much I love you." She whimpered. Alex pulled her close into his chest and cradled her tightly.
