Secrets

Georgie approached the scene followed by 2 section so that they could provide cover whilst she gave medical attention to the casualty. She was confused when Peanuts and Spanner walked over to her completely unscathed, she had anticipated to approach a scene of carnage, especially with the van loaded with explosives.

She watched as Peanuts turned his back on her and whispered "Code Red" into his radio. Her ears pricked up as she heard him say it, "That sure doesn't sound good" she mumbled. Any eye contact she tried to make with him was promptly broken. Why was he suddenly acting so secretive?

Fingers walked over to look at the van and was completely shocked by what he saw. Bones. Laying lifeless in the drivers seat. Blood flooding from his chest and pooling in the drivers seat. "Medic! It's Captain McClyde!" Fingers shouted much to the shock of the rest of 2 section who still believed he had died in the "explosion" at the parade when he was their CO.

Lane ran over to try and revive him. She began to shove a bandage into his sucking chest wound to try and stem the bleeding. He had lost a lot of blood and was struggling to breathe. Georgie ordered Captain James to put pressure on his chest wound as she performed needle decompression to release the pressure inside his lungs and allow him to breathe properly. As she lined up the needle against his chest James questioned her "have you done this before Lane?" Georgie shook her head "Only in training boss! But if I don't he will die." James smirked and trusted Lane to do it correctly and save him.

Minutes later, Bones began to cough and splatter up blood. Georgie sat back in relief - he was alive and breathing. "You are going to be okay Captain McClyde" Lane reassured him. He was in a critical state and unrecognisable from the harsh no nonsense captain that Lane didn't really get on with. "Am I going to die?" He questioned in a very weak tone. Lane smiled "Not on my watch Captain". With the help of 2 section they carried Bones onto the back of the truck and headed back to base leaving special forces to dispose of the explosives in the back of the van by a controlled explosion.

Back at base Lane was still feeling very unhinged; she noticed that Peanuts and Spanner's whole demeanour drastically changed when she arrived to give medical aid to Bones. She overheard Peanuts whisper "Code Red" into his radio and she was adamant to find out exactly what it meant.

The following morning Bones was sat up in his hospital bed whilst Georgie checked up on him. Bones spotted Captain James standing in the doorway "Alright Charlie?" He asked in a very croaky voice whilst clutching his chest, which was bandaged up. "More are you alright Captain" James replied as he walked up to Georgie "A word please Lane" he ordered ushering Georgie out of the room and into the hallway. "What's up boss?" Lane questioned "How's McClyde doing?" James replied glancing over at Bones who didn't seem himself. "His lucky boss they could have killed him" James nodded and paused for a moment of thought "I still don't know why he was driving that van when he was meant to be helping us; I guess I should ask him when his feeling a bit better." Lane agreed "Something just doesn't seem right boss!" Georgie had taken the words out of Captain James' mouth but it was getting late "You're right Lane, maybe things will be clearer in the morning." James responding whilst walking off to his tent for some rest.

But Lane followed him as she still had one question on her mind. "Why are you following me Lane? Get some rest!" Captain James turned around to see Georgie outside his tent. "Boss, what does Code Red mean?" Lane suddenly questioned putting her Captain on the spot. James frowned "It's when special forces get their target Lane" He was too tired to question why Georgie had asked. "Anyway" he began "I'm off to sleep now and you need your rest too" Georgie stood still for a moment, processing everything, before she headed off to get some sleep.
