*Days later*

After the birth, Georgie was required to stay in hospital on an assessment ward for a few days. During this time, she was monitored to ensure she recovered well and tests were carried out on Jacob to check he was healthy - luckily he was.

Unfortunately, Alex was still required to work. He found it difficult to concentrate knowing that Georgie, although healthy, was in hospital and the thought of going home and jumping into bed without her by his side was haunting. He confined himself to his office on desk duty so that he could stare at the clock all day until it was time to visit her at the hospital.

After a particularly hard day of dealing with misconduct within his section and taking the blame for it as the person in charge, Alex couldn't wait to see his wife and son.

"Some people have places to be!" He grumbled to himself as he was held up in the corridor by a woman who had no idea where she was going. He brushed past her recklessly and stormed into the maternity ward.

"You alright babe?" Georgie looked up to see Alex standing in front of her, looking flustered with a frown on his face.

He shot an angry glance at her, then looked down and smiled. His beautiful son Jacob was laid peacefully across his wife's chest, with his tiny fingers wrapped delicately around hers. Ahead of him were the two people he loved the most and his bad day meant nothing now he was reunited with them.

"I am now." Alex replied leaning over the hospital bed and kissing Georgie on the lips. Then, he gently kissed Jacob's forehead as he slept. But Georgie was still worried something wasn't right.

"Just morons at work. That's all." Alex clarified with a smile to stop Georgie from persistently questioning him about the way he stormed in.

For a while, he just sat in the chair next to Georgie talking to her until Jacob began to stir. Georgie slowly tried to get up, still feeling very weak, to change and feed him.

"I'm exhausted!" She exclaimed as she clamped back into the bed after completing the tasks. Alex took Jacob from her and started to burp him, softly patting and rubbing his back so Georgie could get some rest. By the time he had finished and Jacob had settled down, Georgie had drifted off to sleep herself. Alex looked down at the bundle of joy in his arms and was filled with a feeling of tranquility; everything seemed perfect. Quietly resting his eyes, it wasn't long until he drifted off too...

BEEP! BEEP! BEEP!

Alex rolled over and pulled the pillow over his ears as he reached out an arm behind him to silence his alarm clock. "5 more minutes." He muttered sleepily as he closed his eyes again.

Georgie rolled over beside him and snuggled into his chest. She had been awoken by the alarm and Alex knew that once she was awake she can never get back to sleep. Feeling a cold breeze creep under the covers as she moved, Alex woke up. "Morning sleepyhead!" She giggled as she flattened down his bed hair and leant in for a morning kiss. Suddenly, the silence was broken by Jacob's piercing cries. Alex watched as Georgie got out of bed and walked over to his cot in the corner of the room. He watched in awe as he listened to Georgie cooing to his son.

BEEP! BEEP! BEEP!

"ARGH!" Alex moaned as he woke up and painstakingly whipped the covers off of him. He had already pressed snooze and he knew he mustn't be late for work. He was disappointed when he realised Georgie wasn't home yet; there was no baby cot in the corner and he had woken up in a double bed by himself without Georgie by his side. Slowly getting out of bed he began to get dressed, when suddenly his phone lit up and made a noise.
