*Months later*
"Third time lucky Georgie!" Grace (Georgie's mother) replied joyously, leaning across to Georgie and wrapping her in a hug like she did when she was little.
"No need to rub salt in the wound, Mum." Georgie mumbled.
Suddenly, Grace leaped up from the sofa and smiled in delight as she began to clean the house for their guest's arrival.
"I cant wait to meet him!" She cried excitedly.

Georgie made her way down the stairs wearing her best plain blue dress and stunning silver beaded necklace and matching bracelet.
"How do I look, mum?" Georgie asked, brushing a hair off her shoulder and pulling her hair to the side.
Grace looked up from dusting the hallway. "A million dollars!" She replied beaming. She just couldn't believe how much her daughter had changed over the years. Georgie had become the most gorgeous, loving woman and every time Grace saw her she couldn't help but burst with pride.
Ding dong!
Running to the curtains, Marie (Georgie's sister) obnoxiously peered through them, drawing attention to her herself. "It's him!" She announced to Lulu, the youngest of the 3 sisters. In an instant, Lulu joined Marie by the window as they watched a smartly dressed Alex stand on the other side of the door. "He is totally her type! I cant believe he is going to be her husband!" Lulu exclaimed.
Instantly, memories of Georgie's previous love affair with Elvis flickered into their minds. "If he turns up!" They both chimed simultaneously, remembering when Elvis left Georgie at the altar.
As Georgie opened the door, her heart began to race wildly as her eyes suddenly met with Alex's. Smartly dressed for his first meeting with Georgie's parents, it was obvious that he wanted to make a good impression; wearing a tight white shirt that highlighted his gorgeous muscular physique and broad shoulders, light brown chinos and elegant brown boat shoes. For once he was completely clean shaven and had taken the time to comb his hair to precision, so that each hair was gelled in the same direction. As Georgie ushered him inside, she was immediately hit with a strong smell of aftershave that clung in the back of her throat and lingered throughout the hallway.
"Nice to meet you, Mr and Mrs Lane." Alex spoke calmly and politely as he firmly shook, Max's (Georgie's father) hand and galumphingly stepped forward to hug Grace.
Moments later, the Lane family had all gathered around the table for dinner. Max sat at the head of the table with Grace perched beside him. Alex sat next to Georgie, who was positioned opposite her 2 younger sisters Marie and Lulu.
Max swallowed a mouthful of food and used a napkin to wipe the excess from his chin. Then, he cleared his throat.
"So.. you want my gorgeous daughter's hand in marriage?" Max raised an eyebrow at Alex and glared intensely at him.
Alex shyly nodded.
"Well.. make sure you don't hurt her." Max whispered almost threateningly.
***
Consumed by nerves, butterflies and anticipation amongst a mixture of other feelings; Georgie sat balancing on the side of her bed as her friend perfected her hair and makeup for the big day.
