I smiled at the computer screen and gently closed the laptop.

"A penny for your thoughts?" said a voice from the shadows of the room.

I sighed slightly and looked at the old picture that was taken when we were kids, "I'm a doing the right thing? I mean... It's been so long and Ash needs my help, I don't know if I can do this."

He chuckled, "all in due time. We just have to be patient with her."

I got up and paced the room. "I know, but still I want some action! And some bloodshed! Stating in this mansion isn't doing me any good!" I scream the last part out.

"Do I need to remind you that you are the reason why they came after her? Or the fact she got hurt because of you? If you didn't you didn't go around causing trouble then we wouldn't have made that deal with him!" he said harshly.

I looked down, I know what he was talking about the fact that there was a part of the deal that they both agreed to, the deal was something they both dispersed for a moment but agreed anyway.

"I know... And I'm sorry that you both had to do that for so long." I said quietly, ashamed of myself for what I have caused.

He grunted in reply, "now go rest. We have a job to do."

I nodded and walked out of the room.

I sighed as I looked at the screen.

"You are too harsh on her."

"What did you expect? All lovely little demon here? She needs to open her eyes and see the world. You and I both know that... Lyn." he said.

I closed my eyes and groaned, "she is still a girl, and girls are fragile creatures. It's been so long since I've last seen you, Edward... I really miss you." whispering the last part to myself.

He sighed slightly and sat inform of his own computer, touching the screen with one of his gloved hands, "i know, my dear. Every moment without you here by my side is a knife slashing against my skin."

I chuckled, "still the poetic person I fell in love with I see."

He chuckled deeply, "old habits die hard. What are we going to do with there kids?"

I shrugged and looked at the time, "Well, it seems that our borrowed time is up my love."

He looked at his watch with a glare and huffed, muttering lightly under his breath.

Giggling I shook my head and gave him a warm smile, "I will talk to you soon."

He looked at me longingly, "I sometimes wish we never agreed to his deal all those years ago."

I nodded slightly, muttering lightly, "me too. If we didn't strike that deal, then we wouldn't have them here with us, we promised their parents that we would look after them no matter what happens to us. It was the price we have to pay for their happiness."

He nodded and gave me that lopsided grin, "I could always count on you for something positive."

I chuckled slightly and quickly looked at the door, "I have to go, same time tomorrow?"

He nodded, logging off the computer.

Rose opened the door and looked at me with a smile, "There you are, we were wondering where you wandered off too."

I gave her a light chuckle and rubbed my hands slightly, "Sorry about that, I was just finishing something up."

Rose had a slight twinkle in her eye before she asked it, "oh~ and what would that be? a secret lover? or is it an admirer?"

I rolled my eyes and shook my head, "I'm sorry but it's nothing of that sort of matter."

She pouted and crossed her arms, "and why won't you tell me? is it something important to you?"

I gave her a gentle smile, "actually... it is very important to me."

Rose looked at me with a shocked expression but it was quickly replaced with a sincere look, "I see... well then I'm sorry if I interrupted your important moment but your cousin needs you in the gardens."

I nodded and stood up.

"Your eyes."

I turned around and faced Rose, who had an expression I've never seen her wear before.

"They are so sad," Rose said before turning away and closing the door behind her.

I looked at the door as it made a light click sound and turned towards the window next to the desk. Rose, she was such an oddball in her younger years but they don't have to know that. We made a promise to them... a promise that will kill one of us in the end.

I made my way to the gardens and looked for Ash, she was under the cherry blooms tree with a small leather notebook, writing in it with a blank expression, the writing was something wanted to become when she was seven years old, but that all changed.

"You wanted to see me, Ash?"

She paused from writing and closed the notebook, "yes, I need your opinion on something."

I looked at her confused, "oh? and what would that be?"

Ash looked at me with a serious look and spoke the words I'd never thought I'd hear.
