Chris's POV
Don't do it, Rozlyn. I thought. Don't do it.
Despite my mental warnings--which I'm sure she did not hear--she flashed them. On the left hand; the fully pink engagement ring I bought for her---she kept wiggling her fingers and shaking her left hand around, then she used her right hand to finger the pink pearls that were around her neck.
Keepin' it classy.
Honestly, I don't even know what came over me. I went to her house and...proposed? That was stupid. I didn't even love her. But I have to take over the company soon...Dad already waited this long.
Besides...it's better for me to be engaged to someone Kenny doesn't know, than be engaged to someone she does know--and is close to. That would hurt her even more.
Can't she see? I'm trying to protect her.
Protect her from what?
From...me. I can't live with myself if I ever hurt her again.
I didn't realize that Kenny stood up. I glanced at her, keeping my face emotionless. But the sight of her--the look on her face... It was heart breaking. I almost wanna tear out my heart to stop me from feeling this way.
I was only supposed to glance--but I found myself trapped in her CONSTANTLY changing hazel eyed gaze, that grew darker with every second she was staring at me.
Her eyes broke me. They were filled with...anger, heartbreak...betrayal...and pain.
I clenched my fists under the table.
Dammit, what have I done? I promised not to hurt her--and here I was, doing just that.
I'm such a fucking idiot.
Before I could open my mouth, she turned around and walked away.
"Kenny!" Leigh exclaimed, a little too late.
"Don't worry about her," Rozlyn said coolly. "I'm sure she knows her way around."
Then she snuggled up to me and kissed my neck.
It took all my willpower not to sigh or curse or possibly stab myself with a fork.
But she's better off without me.
She'll get over it.
But a tiny voice at the back of my head kept saying,
"No she won't. and you know it."

Kenny's POV
My head was filled with murderous thoughts as I abandoned the heels and opted for a barefoot walk to Hannah's. I needed girl time.
My phone kept ringing, but I ignored it.
When I got to Hannah's, I rang the doorbell continuously until her mom came and answered. She saw me once and yelled for Hannah.
"Jeez, mom, you don't have to yell that lou--" she stopped short when she saw me.
"Kenny!" she stumbled down the stairs. "Kenny, what's wrong?! Are you okay?"
No, I'm not okay.
But I wasn't even aware that tears were slipping down my cheeks.
Shit, how did I not notice? They were pouring down like a torrent.
"Come on," Hannah said softly, guiding me to her room.
When we got there, she closed the door and locked it.
