Kenny's POV

About two hours later, we heard someone yell,

"MOM!!"

I suppressed a smirk.

Mrs. Kingston sighed. "Kenny, would you go up and talk to him?"

"Why me?"

"He's been a little...off, ever since you left."

I shrugged and walked to the staircase. The familiar surroundings comforted me, as I led myself to Chris's room.

The door was shut and a NO ENTRY sign that wasn't there before was taped three times on the door, along with a skull.

I knocked, and the door flung open.

Chris looked back at me. Shock, disbelief and anger on his face.

He glared.

I felt a shiver run down my spine.

"What do you want?" he snapped.

His defensive, and unfriendly tone shocked me. I wasn't used to it.

I regained my composure and glared back. "Well excuse me for wanting to talk to my EX-best friend."

He raised his eyebrow and opened his mouth to say something. "Y--

I cut him off before he got a chance. "..After I had to save HIM from some thugs because for some reason he was at MY house. Why? I don't know but there's a reason you're my ex-best friend; if I were you and I did what you did to me, I wouldn't have been caught dead there."

With that, I turned on my heel and stomped down the stairs..

"Where's Chris?" Trent asked.

Dead to me.

"I don't care." I spat. "I'm going out."

"What?" Leigh said. "Where?"

"Neighborhood." I muttered, already out the back door.

Neighborhood my ass. I just wanna get out of here and clear my thoughts.

********

Like always, I did things bluntly without thinking.

Take now, for example. I had NO idea where I was going. I figured I could go to Hannah's house, but she's probably with Aaron or something.

My legs wouldn't stop running. They pushed faster, and faster until I was far away from the neighborhood.

Then I stopped

Why was I running away?

I wasn't supposed to run away. I thought I made it clear that I would never, ever run away again. So why now?

I exasperatedly blew a stray strand of hair away from my forehead. Chris picked the fucking perfect time to PMS.

"Hello?"

"Ken," Leigh said, sounding tired. "Are you alright?"

"I'm fine." I sighed. "Don't worry. I'll be back soon. Just...visiting a friend's house."

I could tell Leigh was hesitating. If she knew I lied, she didn't let on. "Fine. But be back before dark, please?"

"'K."
