Kenny's POV

(A Few Months Later)

"Do you really wanna do this?" I whispered to Chris. "I hear he's the new King ever since you left."

Technically only the bosses are kings, but since I'm the only girl I'm the queen. Chris could've been a boss too. He would've been but all the other top fighters had a problem with what would be two bosses together, so they voted. Chris will never be able to get an official title as a boss or "King," unless I step down and become his fighting partner. But he has all the skills and definitely deserves it.

Chris smirked. "Yeah right. No one's gonna take the place of King from Me. No matter how long I've disappeared."

"All this for--?"

He looked at me seriously and raised his eyebrow. "If I win this, you have to go out with me."

My eyes widened. "All this just for a date? Why don't you just ask me?!"

"Because I'd rather do it this way. Not for thrills. Not for money. For you."

I didn't know if I should smile or frown. I was still worried about him. The guy looked seriously tough. Then again, they all look tough the first time.

"You idiot. You have me! What--Why the hell didn't you just ask me?!"

When the fight started, the new 'king' wasted no time in aiming for his attack. Too bad for him, though, Chris was still faster.

The fight went on for a long time. They were both evenly matched. Chris was fast and fierce, while the other guy was strong and confident.

Chris braced himself for an attack, but when the guy came after him, Chris aimed for his shin and the guy flinched from the impact.

That was all Chris needed. He side kicked the ankle of the guy, and in a matter of seconds, had him in a headlock. Chris took the opportunity to bash his nose in, and bang the opponent's face on the hard cemented floor.

His opponent passed out cold. The crowd turned deadly silent for a minute before they erupted in loud cheers.

I breathed a sigh of relief and look down at the piece of paper Chris gave me. I was clutching it so hard it was crumpled into tiny wrinkles.

I tried to smooth out the paper with shaky fingers.

Tonight--9:00

I looked up at Chris as he approached, a wry smile on his face.

"You knew you were going to win, didn't you?" I asked, amazed.

He laughed. "I was hoping." he looked at me intensely.

"Will you go out with me?" he asked slowly.

A smile broke out on my face.

I pretended to think about it while Chris waited worriedly for my answer.

Finally, I said,

"Yes,"

*********

"Come on, Hannah," I muttered. "Pick up, pick up, pick up!"

After a few more rings, she finally picked up.

"Hello?" she said, seeming out of breath.

I scrunched my eyebrows in confusion. Why does she sound like she ran a hundred meter dash?

"Hannah---"

She suddenly squealed. "Aaron stop it!"

I slapped my forehead. She was with Aaron. Should've known.
