Alice was bricking it; it had been three whole years since she had last been on a date and she didn’t know what she was going to wear! Oh dear Tiarna, she was in deep water and had no idea what she had to do to try and impress that tall, temperamental boss of hers. Alice was definitely shocked when he had asked her on a date because...well who would want to go on a date with an Irish nomad that moves on faster than anything, but somehow and somewhere along the line he had found something in her that he liked, liked it enough to ask her on a date and Alice was flattered. She didn’t know anything about Rex, well she knew the basics, but that was hardly anything whereas he knew a lot about her and Alice wanted to know more.

Her date with Rex was tonight and the past few days had been filled with nerves and anticipation and still even though it was early morning of the day of their date Alice was nervous, she had no idea where he was taking her which in turn limited her to what she could wear but Alice had time for that and right now she was going to focus on what she was doing. She was in the middle of her run, in the middle of the forest surrounding the town, and all alone which was how she liked it when she just wanted some time to herself.

She pumped her arms and legs in synchronisation with each other as she jumped over ditches and fallen trees. The ground was waterlogged and muddy since it had rained the night before but that just made everything more fun, the challenge of building up and keeping the speed needed was amazing and the adrenalin that pumped through her heart just made it more exhilarating. The different colours that surrounded her were alive now more than ever in the morning light as water still ran off of the rocks and stones while the moss was filled with so much water that as soon as Alice put her hands on it to vault over something the water drained from it.

Her breathing was fast and short as she carried on pushing her muscles to as far as they could go, they didn’t ache and they didn’t hurt but only burned from being exercised so much; she’d been running for about two hours and it was the longest run she had been on since coming to Melody Hills. She had her I-pod in her pocket and her music was blaring through her headphones and into her ears as she ran, she wore her green running jacket along with her lycra running trousers and her trainers, she turned and started running back towards town since she had other things to do today and couldn’t be running all day.

She started to slow down as she cooled her body and came back into town, she breathed deeply and let the damp, fresh air enter her lungs. It was nice to wake up to this everyday, Alice thought. It was different and completely healthy compared to New York or London, Alice loved it and loved the fact that such lovely people lived here. She pulled her headphones out of her ears and let them hand from her neck as she listened to every sound as she passed, it was relatively calm but today there was a lot more people around and Alice wondered if anything was happening today that she might be interested in.

“Morning Miss Alice!” Peter called out to her from where he stood with what Alice figured were his parents.

“Good Morning to you Peter.” She replied with a smile and a wave.

Alice jogged up the steps of the bed and breakfast and stopped on the porch, she put her I-pod and headphones into her pocket and then stretched out her limbs as they cooled down and then untied the laces on her shoes then slipped out of them and picked them up. Alice walked inside and closed the door behind her before walking up the stairs at her own pace and wanting a serious shower.

She stopped off at her room first and took off her jacket, placed it on her chair and picked up a spare pair of clothes and then walked to the bathroom but not before grabbing her phone. She knocked before entering and found a once again empty bathroom, she locked the door behind her and started running her shower to wash away all the sweat.
