Irish Courage - Chapter 11

Alice woke up the next day to her hand throbbing and a sigh, she would have to look for a new job since she quit yesterday and Rex fired her but Alice didn’t mind because it she had moving from job to job for a while now she was used to doing anything to make a little money.

She had the time to do whatever she wanted because of the repairs on her truck and she was going to relax while doing it, there was no point in getting stressed and burning herself out for a job she was going to have for a little while but it didn’t mean she wasn’t going to work hard.

She sat up in bed and pulled back her covers then stood up and stretched, it was early and Alice knew no one would be awake yet and was taking the liberty of silence while she still could before Levi and Henry descended on her for the day.

She started getting herself ready for the day and realised that she missed the big bulk of fur that she’d brought up to her room yesterday, Romeo was the best dog an owner could have and Rex was lucky to have him. Alice walked over to her suitcases and pulled out a variety of different things to wear, she felt the need to mix her style up a little today.

She pulled on a pair of navy blue jeans then pulled one leg up to her knee and rolled up the bottom cuffs before securing them in place with a belt at her waist. Next she pulled out a pale grey vest top and loose fitting electric pink crop top and pulled them over her head before pulling out an electric pink bandana and a pair of neon green leg warmers. She felt today that she should go without her crop tops and instead wear something that may appeal to someone that could employ her.

She threw on her white and Red Nike trainers and pulled her leg warmers over the tops of the shoes then collected her toiletries and made her way to the bathroom. She knocked first to make sure no one was in there then closed the door behind her and started getting ready, she applied deodorant and had a quick wash then started to brush out her hair. It still held some of the curl it once had yesterday but as Alice brushed out her hair it became as straight as a knife again and seemed as if the curl was never there and Alice wiggled her nose, it had only been as straight as it was since she had crossed the sea over to America, the humidity and weather in England and Ireland had provided enough water to her hair to make it curl uncontrollably but easily tameable because she had her hair tied up most of the time but Alice had to admit that she liked America, it was something to do with the amount of time Alice had spent away from her homeland and Irelands shores.

Alice pulled herself from her thoughts and quickly brushed her teeth before rinsing out her mouth, gathering her things and quickly tied the bandanna around her head before walking back to her room. She collected her phone; purse and room key then left her room and locked it behind her.

She jogged down the stairs and was met by an unusual sight in the living room. Rex was laying spread across the sofa with his arms thrown out while his head rested against the arm rest, Henry was curled into a ball on the floor with a sofa cushion under his head and Levi was stretched out in one of the available armchairs with his legs stretched out as far as they could go. They were all fast asleep with each of their light snores filling the air around her as she smiled and then walked into the kitchen, Alice didn’t feel up to a big breakfast today so decided to get something before Annette got up and went to the trouble of eating something too big for her.

The kitchen wasn’t anything special but it fit the job that it was supposed to do which was too cater for a person with what they needed to do and in this case for Alice it was simple; Toast. It was simple and provided enough Carbohydrate to give her an energy boost that would last until lunch, it was simply made and only took Alice five minutes to make before she was walking back out of the kitchen with the hot piece of toasted bread in her hands, she didn’t like adding anything on her toast because it was always something she preferred to have.
