Darry pulled up in the driveway of the house he's been working on. It was a very large house, and since it was on the South side of town meant everyone had to watch their backs. Soc teenagers could go too far when it came to messing with Greasers. The situation was even worse considering about half of Darry's coworkers were Greasers while the other half were classified in the middle class, they leaned more towards being a Greaser rather than a Soc.

The boy never liked working on a Soc's house for that main purpose. He especially didn't like this house in particular. This house was the Sheldon residence; Bob's home. Ever since the stabbing incident, Bob had held the biggest grudge on the gang, more specifically Johnny and Ponyboy. As Darry walked towards the ladder with the tools he needed, he noticed someone watching him through a window. When he looked closer into the window, he realized it was Bob staring at him. Darry gulped and proceeded to make his way up onto the roof, mentally praising himself on how he wasn't showing any fear. If he showed he was nervous, he'd just get eaten alive.

Darry could feel Bob's eyes leave him, sending relief through Darry's mind. Causing his thoughts to slow down some. But he still had that gut feeling. The feeling that he shouldn't have been there.

'What does he want now?' Darry thought. He could feel Bob's eyes on him once again. He climbed down the ladder to grab more bundles of roofing and turned his head to view the window he was once being watched through. Bob was giving him the death glare, he looked like he was ready to kill someone right then and there. The boy gulped and continued to get the things he needed.

                              ************

About halfway through the day, Darry decided to stay behind to keep working while everyone else went back to the Dingo for lunch. As he finished nailing down another bundle, he heard someone coming up the ladder from behind him. Darry was internally panicking, yet he kept a brave face like a Greaser should. He'd rather die than let a Soc see that he was scared.

There was a sick chuckle from behind him, causing Darry to turn his head and see the one person he dreaded; Bob. His blond curly hair shone in the sun and his colorless eyes stayed filled with rage as he looked at the Greaser before him.

"What d'ya want, Bob?" Darry asked, his voice was cold and stern as he kept his back turned. He didn't want to see him, he didn't want to work in general from his morning sickness, let alone on Bob Sheldon's house. As he spoke he continued nailing panels onto the roof. The blonde spoke in a low and menacing tone.

"Payback..." He sniggered. Darry's eyes widened as the word sunk in. He felt hands being roughly placed on his shoulders and pull him back off the edge. Darry tired to hold on, but he had lost his balance the moment Bob pulled him off.

As he fell he could see Bob looking down at him from the roof, cackling evilly while a mad smile was the plastered on his face. Darry landed on the ground with a thud while pain erupted from his side and back, silently thankful he didn't land on his stomach. But the fear of his babies being harmed still lingered in his mind. He soon heard shouting, there seemed to be an argument going on around him. Someone was talking to him, but he didn't know who, he was in too much pain to tell. Quickly, the voices were fading into the distance, his vision darkened.
