~Previously~
"You're lookin' at 'em." Was all Dally said. Everyone swiveled their heads to look at Dallas. Soda, Steve and Two-Bit had their jaws to the floor. Yet Pony and Johnny had smiles on their faces. Oh they knew alright.
"That's not all of it....."
"What else is there Darry?" Pony asked. How on Earth can he sound so curious when he already knows?! Oh well.
"I'm pregnant....."
~Now~
Darry wandered out of his flashback back to reality. He saw the 3 unknowing boys still in shocked silence, the other 3 were silent in anticipation. Weary and unknowing to how they'd react. Soda was the first out of the 3 to speak. He was obviously shocked, or surprised, maybe an odd combination of both perhaps, he may have been in denial.
"You're what?" He asked. His blue eyes were wide while his eyebrows furrowed. Darry sighed, attempting to break Soda from his denial state.
"I said "I'm pregnant", Soda. 3 months to be exact. With twins." Darry stated, placing his hand on his slightly raised stomach while the babies kicked to what seemed like no end. The kicking didn't hurt, it was more of a flutter than a kick, yet. Darry words was what seemed to bring Soda to realization. He looked down at his shoes. Softly sighing, he accepted it and wore a happy grin for his older brother and Dally. He was just his old, regular, happy-go-lucky Soda now. Two-Bit wore a surprised and happy smile with joy and excitement beaming from his light grey eyes.
"I always liked kids!" He exclaimed, nudging his elbow into Steve's side in the process. He looked between Darry and Dally and smiled wider.
"Congrats, guys." Two-Bit said. He felt beyond happy for the couple, and he couldn't wait to watch them when they were older. Steve looked at them and softly smiled, slightly showing his teeth.....much to his disliking.
"Ya, enjoy the last 7 months of freedom." He joked, smirking. Chuckles came from everyone in the room. As the laughs died down, Soda spoke.
"You know....." He dragged. "I was told twins run in our family, all the way back. I'm actually surprised none of us are twins." Soda said. An joyous and cheery smile grazed his lips.
"Ya..." Darry started. "I remember Mom told me the Docs thought she would have twins with me. Ha! I remember she told me Dad fainted." Darry said. The image of his mother and father faintly came across his mind. Oh, how he missed them.
The 7 of them joked and clowned around for what seemed like hours upon hours. The happy mood they shared never seemed to leave the room, even the usually quiet and shy Ponyboy and Johnny were laughing. Before anyone knew it, it was getting late and everyone was starting to get tired, you could see it in their eyes.
"It's gettin' late, you guys should go home and sleep." Darry said, though he ordered more than asked his brothers. Once Sodapop and Ponyboy left, the gang soon left to head back one by one as it got later. The last one to leave was Johnny.
"Don't wanna deal with ma old man yet." He said. Eventually, it was only Dally left alone with his lover. It felt nice to be alone with him. The two talked for some time, the main topic being their babies soon to come and the new lives they would have to live.
"You know.....Darry....." Dally hesitated. "I never thought I'd be a parent, always thought I'd die before I had the opportunity." Dally said. While he did, horrifying memories from his past had come flooding through his mind, memories he thought he buried deep down were reaching the surface. Darry instantly sensed his change in mood and grabbed Dally's hand. He began pulling the blond towards him on the hospital bed and slowly closed his eyes. Their lips met and moved in sync, lust and passion making the kiss stronger. Darry broke the kiss and stretched out Dally's bottom lip, loving the reaction he received from the blond. They reattached their lips and lost track of the time. Eventually, the coupe broke the kiss and stared into each other's eyes, panting heavily for air.
