"Home sweet home." Dally said, dropping his bag onto the bed. Darry hummed in response, sitting on the bed as he rested a hand over his stomach. Life couldn't have been better.
~Now~
It was the next day. And while Dally and Darry were out for the day, the rest of the gang had been putting everything together for Dally's welcome home party. The items were quit simple. All they needed was a sign, alcohol, cake and the gang. That was it.
Ponyboy, being the artistic person he is, worked on the sign. The bubble letters were written in Dally's favorite color, red, and were off center slightly. The blonde never liked things too neat so Pony made sure it didn't look absolutely positively perfect. Small, multi-colored balloons were drawn on as well. The light pastel colors of the balloons made the bright red color of the letters pop and crest the right amount of contrast. As Pony finished the shading, he felt Johnny's arms rest on his sides. He smiled and dropped the colored pencil in his hand so he could turn to face his beloved boyfriend.
"The sign looks great, babe! Dally'll love it!" Johnny said. His black-brown eyes sparkled as his dark curls hung over his forehead. Pony's green eyes met Johnny's brown ones, he chuckled.
"Thanks, sweets! I can't believe how fast these few years have gone by..." He muttered the last part, glancing down at the sign. Johnny nodded. It felt like only seconds ago the Curtis brothers were grieving over their parents' death and now Darry is almost 22 and Dally turns 20 in about three months. It shocked everyone. Things had gone by so fast, it made their heads spin.
The couple kissed before going back to what they had to do. Pony quickly finished the final touches on the sign and hung it above the doorway leading to the dinning room, Johnny helping him of course. While the two did that, Steve and Two-Bit were in charge of getting the food and drinks. It was quit simple for them, as Steve was a good cook and Two-Bit knew every liquor store like the back of his hand. While all of that went down, Johnny was watching the twins and kept them occupied. He was always good with kids.
By the time they had finished, it was almost time for Darry and Dally to be home. The boys sat on the couch and turned on the Tv. When their car pulled into the driveway, everyone shut off the lights and hid. All they had to do was wait.
