"Uh, I'll take the floor." Shay broke our awkward silence.
"Yeah, you will," I said quietly.
Someone knocked on our door. I opened it to find Nolan. I gave him a hug.
"Hey!" Shay said happily. They fist bumped.
"Hey guys. Glad to see you made it okay. Sorry about the rooms," he said but he didn't sound the least bit sorry and I swear I saw him wink at Shay.
Odd.
"Oh, it's alright," I said politely.
"Gabs wanted me to tell you guys that we are all meeting downstairs in about an hour to go to dinner. It's a pretty nice place, so dress up a bit," he said.
"Okay. We will," Shay replied.
"Sounds great, see you guys then," he said and left.
I walked over to my giant suitcase and began unpacking. Shay walked over and stood close behind me.
"What's this?" he asked. His arm darted around me and snatched my bathing suit out of my luggage.
"My bathing suit? What else would it be?"
"I've just never seen one this...style," he said skeptically.
It was probably true. The top was a push-up blue bandeau and the bottom was tie-on-the-side yellow.
"Yeah, right," I snapped. I reached for it but since he was a good 10 inches taller than me, he held it above his head.
"What are you doing? Give it to me," I whined.
His eyes glinted. "I think you should wear this to dinner," he smirked, "but that's just a personal opinion."
I blushed. "Give it to me. Now."
I held my hand out and he obliged to my request.
"Thank you. Now, I'm going to start getting ready because we only have about forty-five minutes, and I look like a wreck," I stated.
I grabbed my clothes and cosmetic bag and headed for the bathroom.
"I think you look gorgeous," he said boldly.
"What?" I turned around to face him.
"You heard me."
Yeah, I did, I thought to myself.
I went ahead into the bathroom and started on curling my hair. I wasn't very good with a curling wand; I always end up burnt.
I was being very careful, but I still managed to singe my neck. I let out a yelp and dropped my wand on the floor. It made a loud crash on the tile.
"What just happened?" Shay asked wide eyed and alert. He surveyed the scene before him.
"Are you okay?" he asked.
"Yes. It happens all the time," I reassured him as I went to retrieve my wand from the ground.
He nodded. "Okay. Just checking," he said and walked out.
I finished up my hair and then wiggled into my dress. It was snug around my hips but loose and flowy around my chest. It's halter top made it look like a skirt and blouse, but it was really attached. I touched up my makeup before exiting.
Shay had changed. He was now wearing dark wash jeans and a white button down that was just he right kind of tight.
His stubbly face and bright blue eyes made him look like he'd just walked out of a magazine.
"You done checking me out?" He smirked.
Deciding not to take the bait, I let my eyes wander the length of his body before meeting his eyes again.
I have him my brightest smile. "Now I am," I said smugly.
His face said it all.
Shay POV
I'm sure my face said it all. Not only did Sasha look sexy and all get out, but now she had this newfound confidence. I loved it.
"Good. Your dress looks pretty," I complimented her.
She grinned. "Thanks. Let's go," she said.
I watched her put her phone and some other things inside a small purse thing.
I opened the door for her. "After you m'lady," I said with a wink.
She laughed. I liked being the one who made her laugh.
Once we were in the lobby, we looked around until we saw some of her friends.
They all squealed at the same time. I winced at the sound.
While they were all hugging each other and catching up on life, I walked over to Baytes and Nolan. They were the only two here today, I think Chase, Grace's boyfriend and long time buddy of mine, would be here tomorrow.
"Hey man," Baytes said. We hadn't been very close in school, but he was a good guy.
I jerked my chin up as a hello.
I made the mistake of looking back over at Sasha. She was laughing, her hair bouncing around her shoulders.
She was so damn beautiful, and I hope she knew it.
