The next day I had to drive to the airport to pick up Jay and Angie. Little did they know that all their friends were waiting at the house for their arrival.
I pulled into the pick up lane and waited for them to come out. I saw Jay's blonde head about 50 yards away so I pulled my car up to where they were waiting.
I hopped out and hugged Jay's neck when I was close enough to them.
"How was it?" I asked excitedly.
Angie sighed dreamily. "Amazing. I'm sad it over but at least I can see you and Ana everyday!" She said.
Jay laughed. He loaded their luggage into the trunk and opened the passenger door for Angie. They were so cute.
On the drive home the told me all about the Bahamas. They laid out, went snorkeling, and they said the food was spectacular.
I told them about graduation and the after party, conveniently leaving out Oscar.
"I'm proud of you kiddo," Jay said.
"Thanks. I'm proud of you too," I winked at Angie and she blushed.
"When we get home I'll take your bags in for you if you check the mail for me," I told Jay.
"Done."
We pulled up to our house and I let him out to check the mailbox. Angie and I unloaded their bags and he met us in the driveway.
"This is for you, and so is this," he said nervously. I snatched the packets from his hands. These were my college letters! I immediately started to panic.
"Calm down, I'm sure it'll be great news," Angie said encouragingly.
"I'll open them later. Come on, I want you guys to see something," I pushed open the back door for them and everyone leaped out from their hiding places.
"Surprise!" they chorused.
Jay looked at me and grinned.
"Thanks kiddo," he said.
It was a small party, just Jays friends Sam and William, their wives Sarah and Emily, and Angie's friend Kate and her fiancée Landon.
While they were chatting with their friends I slipped upstairs to my room.
I sat on my bed and stared at the two letters in my hands. One from Burkes, one from Spade.
I opened the one from Spade first.
I skimmed the letter.
I'm in.
The Burkes note was next. I took a deep breath.
Congratulations, Ms. Jacobs...
I got in! I actually got in!
I screamed and ran down the stairs. Everyone stopped talking and looked at me curiously. I squealed.
"I'm in!"
*two months later*
I was sitting at a local cafe waiting on Oscar to show up. I had called him and the rest of my friends that day. He told me he got accepted to WSU. I was happy for him, I was just sad.
Nichole, Gabriel, Baytes, Gracie, and Kiki were all attending school in California. Oscar was in Washington and Carolina was in Nashville. I was the only one in New York.
I saw his car pull up. He got out and made his way towards me.
He gave me a sad smile. "Hey Sash," he said. He knew it was coming.
"Hey Oz," I started, "Look, I think we both knew this was coming. Didn't we?"
"Yeah. I did."
"I'm leaving in two days. I think it's time," I whispered.
He put his head in his hands. "I love you Sasha. I really do. If this is what's going to make you happy, then this is what we'll do," he said softly.
"Thank you. For everything," I told him. We stood up and hugged for the last time.
"Friends?" he asked.
"Always. I'll text you when I get there," I said.
He kissed my forehead and nodded. He walked out without another word and drove off. I called Grace.
"I need you," I said.
She was seated across from me ten minutes later.
She ordered us some fries and milkshakes. She and Chase had broken up due to college about a month ago. They parted friends, or so she said.
"This sucks," I grumbled, dunking my fry in my chocolate milkshake and popping it in my mouth.
"Hahaha, I know it does, trust me," she said.
We hung out the rest of the day before we went back home. Angie greeted me in the kitchen.
"Hey girly. Where've you been all day?"
"Well, I went to break up with Oscar then Grace and I drowned our sorrows in greasy fries and chocolate milkshakes," I said dramatically whilst flopping down on our couch.
"Ouch, sounds terrible. Well guess what?" She said.
"Hmm?"
"All your girlfriends are coming over tomorrow night for your going away party. How's that sound?" Angie asked.
"Fan-freaking-tastic."

Ding-Dong!
"I'll get it!" I hollered. I skidded down the hall to the front door. Nichole, Grace, and Carolina were standing there smiling.
None of them left for about a week so tonight was the last time I'd see them for a while.
"Hey! Come on in. Y'all know the drill, put your stuff in my room and come her some food," I said.
They all hugged me and took their things upstairs. No sooner had I closed the door did the door bell ring again.
I flung it open and there stood Kiki and Gabriel.
"Hey! Go on and put your stuff in my room then come back down to eat," I told them.
I went back into the kitchen. Angie was making tacos. It was 4:45 and she told me that'd they'd be ready at 5:15.
"Everybody here?" she asked.
"Yes, they'll be down in a minute. Maybe, they have been up there for a while," I said, "I'll go check on them."
Leaving five girls unattended for too long never resulted in anything good.
I crept down the hallway to my room. The door was closed and I heard hushed voices.
"We're taking too long guys, hurry," said Gabriel.
"Calm down, it'll be worth it when we're done." That was Nichole.
I stayed silent for another minute before I heard them speak again.
"Do you think it looks good?" Carolina asked.
"Yes!" Kiki squealed.
"She's going to cry, I know she is," said Gracie.
They all started betting on if I'd cry or not. Kiki, Grace, and Gabriel said yes, while Nichole and Carolina said no.
"We've been up here too long-" one of them said but I flung the door open on them. They all froze.
"Surprise?" Nichole said.
I gasped.
Oh my.
