TAMED LV - FINALLY

RHIO RITCHEL'S POV

(A/N: R18+ | Read at your own risk.)

"ZAMANTHA.."

"How did you end up here?"

I knew she's mad at me, and that was precisely why I went here, to amend and rectify our relationship. It had been nearly a week since we last met, and she didn't even bother to glance back at me. I craved to inquire about her, make clear my standpoint, and demonstrate my fondness, but I also yearned for another peek of her.

She sat at the infinity pool's brink, clad in a loose black tee and shorts. Her feet dangled into the water, and numerous beer cans lay strewn on the ground beside her as she reached for an uncapped one.

"Can we talk, please?"

Gazing into the pool water with rapt attention, tahimik lang siya. . . nag-iisip. Growing exasperated, I exhaled audibly and decided to ditch my high heels, settling down beside her beer cans on the ground.

Finally, she turned her gaze towards me, and I could see that her eyes were red and swollen. I wondered how long she had been crying here all alone like this. "I know you have a lot of works today, hindi ka dapat pumunta rito."

"I'm sure you know why I came here," I said, feeling anxious about how to start. I was scared that I might mess things up again. The last time I lied to her, it was a big blow to our relationship and she was deeply hurt.

The crash wreaked havoc on her brain, leaving her on the brink of death. I was gripped by terror for days, convinced she'd slip away forever. As I watched over her that night, my anxiety grew as she remained comatose. Her family hurled blame and recriminations at me, leaving me with wounds both physical and emotional.

But the true torture was being forced to witness her agony from afar, helpless to soothe her pain or offer solace. Each passing moment without her felt like a slow death, draining me of life. The uncertainty of her recovery was worse than the agony of her injuries, as I feared she might never again stir from her slumber.

"Hey, no more beers. Talk to me!" I barked, cutting her off mid-chug while she plunged into the pool. Her eyeballs locked with mine, and her throat bobbed with tension while gulping. Her skin had droplets sparkling, making her prettier. When she ruffled her hair and rested on the pool's rim, her shoulder brushed my knee.

"Don't bother, Richelle's already briefed me," she replied unperturbedly. "B-but, I've a few questions for you."

I nodded, keeping my lips sealed and giving her the floor. I was indebted to her and ready to make things right by answering. She sighed deeply and beamed a woe-begone face. "Why did you carry everything? Bakit sinalo mo lahat? Bakit hindi mo man lang ako binigyan? Bakit andaya mo?"

As she opened her mouth, tears burst forth, and sobs convulsed her figure. Her agony's intensity was palpable, even unseen. Her shoulder shook against my knee, and I choked back my own feelings, shutting my eyes. I had vowed her kin to keep off, especially since she'd been severely ill. Sharing all would only worsen things as she'd risk anything to return. And I knew her well enough that nothing would prevent her from fulfilling her desires.

"The way I see it, it's the best course of action for both of us. We've sorted things out before and made mutual decisions."

"Tapos apat na taon ay pinahirapan mo sarili mo? You were there for me all those years, supporting me silently from the sidelines without ever letting me see you. Why the hell are you so selfless?" Her voice broke as she covered her face with her hands.
