Chapter 45 - Red Wine

AS I held her close, my body finally relaxed from the cold. It was a moment of pure bliss, feeling her warmth and being able to offer my own. With all the chaos of the world around us, it was comforting to find solace in each other's embrace. In that moment, there was nothing else that mattered but the two of us together. It was a reminder that sometimes, the simplest moments can bring the greatest joy.

"I love how you make it a point to use words like hugs and kisses, Professor Sandoval."

"And you're always taking your sweet time, like a turtle in a race," pambubuska niya. Her body twitched a bit as I laughed and let out a breath next to her neck. Tumagos sa 'kin pabalik 'yung hininga ko, I can feel the heat from it.

"Sometimes I'm pleasantly surprised by the unexpected things you say, to be honest." Minsan kailangan pang mag-load utak ko para malaman kung ano'ng ibig niyang sabihin.

"What I said wasn't all that unexpected. I don't want you to freeze, so I'm just trying to help calm your cold nerves," suplada niyang sambit na lalong nagpatawa ss 'kin.

Hindi siya nakaharap sa 'kin mismo pero nai-imagine ko na itsura niya. Nakailang 360 degrees ng ikot na naman 'to ng eyeballs panigurado.

"Remember when you wanted to calm my blood inside your condo?" I playfully reminded her of those mischievous moments and then nuzzled my nose into her soft hair, breathing in her sweet fragrance. "Kailangan ko pa bang magkuwento para maalala mo?"

"Cut it out, Zamantha." She shot me a sideways glare with a cute, annoyed expression. "Behave, hindi na 'yon mauulit."

Napasimangot naman ako sa sinabi niya. Sinamahan pa niya 'yon ng mahinang tampal sa pisngi ko. Napaka-sweet talaga. "Bakit hindi na mauulit?"

"It's not the best situation, but at least I could take something positive away from that mistake and learn from it."

"Mistake?" Naging seryoso ang aking boses. "Are you saying that what happened between us before was just another mistake?"

"We were both aware that it wasn't an ideal situation, Zamantha."

"Is this really something we're going to argue over?" Natanong ko na ito nang maalala ko ang biglang pagdating ni Franko sa araw na iyon, baka 'yon ang ibig niyang sabihin.

"No, this isn't an argument."

"Sa susunod wag ka kasing nang-aakit," sambit ko na nagpipigil ng ngiti, pabitaw na ako nang pigilan niya ang mga kamay ko.

"We're not arguing, right?" Her voice softened, sideways glance. "Don't get mad."

Akala talaga niya galit ako sa kanya?

"I'm mad." Natawa ako nang tangkain niya akong harapin pero mahigpit ko lang siyang niyakap lalo. "Madly in love with you."

"Ehem..." Someone with us cleared their throat, but we didn't pay any attention. Si Brandino pala ulit iyon na kausap niyankanina, bumitaw tuloy kami sa isa't isa. Nag-usap sila saglit at narinig kong may kasama pa pala iyong Brandino na kanina pa niya hinahanap.

"Zamantha?"

Napa-imaginary face palm na lamang ako as soon as my eyes met his friend's gaze. Bilog na napakaliit nga naman talaga ang mundo, kilala ko ang kasama niya.
