TAMED L - ONCE ON THIS ISLAND
RHIO RITCHEL'S POV
"HUG me," I whispered, noticing she was shivering in the cold wind. She didn't budge or respond. I raised my eyebrows and crossed my arms. I couldn't believe she was missing out on such a great chance.
"Did you not hear me?" I gulped as she pulled me into a warm embrace, holding me delicately like a fragile glass. It was tough not to recoil from the cold air as it merged with her warmth, transferring her magic to me.
"Siyempre, I can't ignore my birthday girl," she whispered and squeezed me tight around the waist. Her nose brushed against my cheek, and I shuddered, but I didn't pull away. I always melted when she did stuff like that. It was like my body knew what to do without me even thinking. I gave my silent approval and stayed put, but when she tried to kiss me, I turned away, breathless.
Regaining my composure, I closed my eyes as I felt her soft body molding against my back.
"I love how you make it a point to use words like hugs and kisses, Professor Sandoval."
I bit my lips to hold back a smile. "And you're always taking your sweet time, like a turtle in a race."
"Sometimes I'm pleasantly surprised by the unexpected things you say, to be honest."
I flinched as that same familiar feeling in my gut crept up on me. I squeezed her hands, trying to push through the sensation. I meant, I asked for this hug, so I just had to suck it up and deal with it. "What I said wasn't all that unexpected. I don't want you to freeze, so I'm just trying to help calm your cold nerves."
"Remember when you wanted to calm my blood inside your condo? Kailangan ko pa bang magkuwento para maalala mo?"
As I thought back on all the steamy moments we had spent together, my cheeks blazed and I blushed.
I used to be a hypocrite because even though I admitted to her that I like her, I still got flustered when she got intimate with me. But now, we're both sharing our deepest secrets, and she's the only one I let into that part of my life. I was never like this with my past partners because of my domineering attitude. I don't like guys controlling me, but Zamantha is different.
"Cut it out, Zamantha." I tilted my head to steal a glance at her, but I felt ashamed to even think about how I always ended up being submissive in those moments. Despite my attempts to be dominant, I would eventually cave in to her. I guess that's just how things were between us, and I had to accept it. "Behave, hindi na 'yon mauulit."
"Bakit hindi na mauulit?"
"It's not the best situation, but at least I could take something positive away from that mistake and learn from it."
"Mistake? Are you saying that what happened between us before was just another mistake?"
"We were both aware that it wasn't an ideal situation, Zamantha."
"Is this really something we're going to argue over?"
Oh, of course not! "No, this isn't an argument."
"Sa susunod wag ka kasing nang-aakit." She sounded irritated, and I could tell she was preparing to pull out from me. I seized her hands, then rapidly encircled myself once again.
Hearing her chuckle behind me made me roll my eyes. In all seriousness, I thought she was upset with me. I always act tough during arguments, but deep down, I get all flustered when I see her hurt by my harsh words. I know that arguing just leads to more arguing, and I don't want that to happen between us now that we're starting to take things smoothly. I don't want her to regret this moment, nor do I want to hear her say that she regrets being with me tonight... that she regrets me.
