I woke up the next morning feeling absolutely no pain. I mentally thanked the magic of Old Lady Jina's healing paste, not that it's actually magic, but it works miracles. I slowly rose to my feet and dressed up. As soon as I stepped foot outside, Kati ran to me.
"Eliza, where's Lilith?" She asked in a panicked voice.
"I dunno, she said she'd be back by sundown yesterday. Isn't she there?" I quickly replied, feeling my anxiety rise slowly. I took a deep breath.
"No she isn't back. We can't find her! It's been a day and a half!" My little sister cried out.
"And no one bothered to wake me?" I screamed, gathering a few people's attention. A hand dropped on my shoulder.
"It's probably the Haites." Nirako's voice spoke from behind me. I yanked his hand away.
"What?!" I exclaimed.
"The ones you fought with, they were probably going back to the mountains, on the other side of the Seikatsu Village. If she was walking alone, they could have took her." He mumbled, looking down.
"They killed my sister!" I yelled. At that point everyone was looking at me. I didn't care though.
"Maybe not! When I was young, my parents would always tell me the story of Tricia and Martha, from the Kurai Village, who got their kids taken by the Haite, seventeen years ago. They say that the kids are still alive to this day, because their mother had a charm, which would turn black the day they died, and it's still white! Maybe that's what happened to Lilian." Nirako said in the most hopeful tone I ever heard.
"Ikken, those are children's stories, how do you want me to believe it?" I cried out.
Kati hugged me. I felt some tears on my shirt.
"Please, just stay hopeful! For her!" Nirako said, his voice draining at the end.
For her. For my mother. She died of a deadly illness when I was seven and Lilith was ten. My father died a year later in a fight against the Haite. I needed to find Lilith. For the sake of my mother.
"Alright." I whispered, hugging Kati, who was still clung to me.
I picked up my baby sister and walked to my tent. Halfway there, I heard soft snores coming from my sister. She fell asleep. I brought her to her tent and layed her down on her bed. I softly kissed her forehead before whispering.
"Sleep tight, hun, I promise I'll find Lilith."
With that, I left her tent and went towards mine. As I passed his tent, I heard arguing from inside.
"Come on, babe, that girl can wait." A female high pitched voice spoke.
"Look, Olika, you know I love you, we're bonded, but she needs hope, we don't want to hear both of them crying for months over someone who may not be dead. She'll leave to find her sister then we'll be together, -"
I stopped listening and left. As I got to my tent, I let out a dry laugh and flopped on my bed.
"Wow and I actually forgave him. I actually thought he was being genuine for once." I mumbled to myself. I sighed and got up to pack a few things for my journey to the Mountains.
I'll save my sister, then she'll beat his ass.
I attached my twin daggers to my thighs, hid three small knives in my combat boots, and put my sword in its sheath and fixed it to my back. I picked up my small bag and secured it to my waist. Once I was ready, I got out of my tent and walked towards the main road.
"Eliza!" The one person I didn't want to see called out. I slowly turned around.
"Ikken." I said, dryly.
"What are you doing?" He asked.
"Leaving."
"To where?"
"Mountains."
"Eliza... Are you alright?" He looked at me, confused.
"No, I would much rather having your hypocrite ass far away from me." I snapped.
"W-What do you-"
I cut him off.
"Oh don't act like you don't know, Ikken. I heard you with Olika. You're just being a hypocrite. Don't even. It's the third time you break my trust after I forgave you. Go fuck yourself." I spoke, my voice raising at the end.
I turned around and left, following the large road leading to the Seikatsu Village. I walked along the road for a few miles before taking an abrupt turn into the desert. After an hour, the edge of the Forests started appearing before me. I knew I'd meet some Haites in the Forests, but those were passive. The Mountain Haites were the only ones conflicted with the Sylphees. The Volcano, Sea and Forest Haite didn't mind us.
I cut through the Forests and followed along a makeshift path made by my ancestors. My father showed it to Lilian and I when we were young. He said it led directly to the mountains. I reached the other side when the day started to die. I made myself a bed in a tall tree and took shelter in the cover of leaves.
I waited a while for sleep to consume me, but I just didn't seem to fall asleep. My thoughts consumed me. Worries about Lilith were swirling around my mind like a snow storm.
When sleep finally consumed me, dawn was about to break. I fell in a deep slumber.
