Damon's POV

There she was, swaying back and forth with that stupid grin on her face. A new colorful wig flowing against her back.

"Wow you actually came." The normally mute boy comments, turning my eyes away from Lylah.

"Jacob right?" He nods before walking away.

"Why did I come again?" I mutter to myself, searching for the kitchen.

"Hello." The slinky brunette gives a flirty wave.

"Not now." I groan, waving her off as I keep walking.

I lean against the island with a fresh cup of reeking alcohol as I people watch. I don't know how people drink this stuff.

I feel so uncomfortable here, this was clearly a bad idea.

"Hey I know you." That voice.

I tilt my head as Lylah walks, well stumbles towards me.

"You don't seem like the party type?" She slurs.

"Yeah well neither do you." I defend.

"I'm not." She shrugs.

"Are you drunk?" I quirk an eyebrow.

She snorts, trying to hold in a laugh. She takes a deep breath before faking a serious look. "No."

I wait a few seconds.

"Okay you caught me!" She holds out her wrist to me.

"Um what are you doing?"

"Aren't you gonna arrest me?" She looks up at me like I'm the dumb one.

"Stop, you're embarrassing yourself."

"When do I not."

She had a point.

"Why are you even here?" I roll my eyes.

"I deserve some fun." She smiles to herself.

"I think you have enough fun."

"You don't know me, stop implying I'm some slut, I'm only a slut for you Day-man." She pokes my chest.

"You're spewing out idiotic things." I refuse to listen to her drunk lies.

"Why did you even come, it's not like you have any friends here, no one likes you 'cause you're this scary man."

She was right.

I was invited, so I'm not completely unwanted.

Maybe that's why I'm so uncomfortable, my only friend was off in college making new friends probably.

Joaquin is the only one who understands me.

"Did I strike a nerve, I'm sorry I don't wanna hurt your feelings, I didn't mean it." She quickly back tracks.

Her eyes hold fear while she waits for any form of response. I huff before pushing past her harshly. Her fingers graze my jacket but I'm too fast for her.

I don't belong here, don't know why I was so delusional, not at this party, and damn sure not at this school.

I saw an argument breaking out between the mute boy and some blond guy on my way out the door. The crowd was heading towards them so it was a perfect exit.

Almost perfect.

"Hey, please wai-"

I know it's Lylah. Why do I even bother?

I couldn't even finish turning around.

Before I know it, I'm knocked on my ass. Her body toppled on top of mine. Her sickly sweet perfume travels to my nose before I push her off of me.

"All you do is cause problems." I give a dry laugh, standing to my feet and dusting off my jeans.

"I know." Her head hangs low.

"Get up you clumsy she devil." I order and she complies.

"S-she devil?"

"Yes." I give one nod.

I procrastinate on whether I should take her home or find those boys she hangs with. I make the risky decision to bring her with me. I don't inform her about the new decision, grabbing her upper arm and dragging her past the lawn towards my car.

"Field trip?"

"Yeah sure, field trip." I open the passanger door and push her inside.

"Give me your address."

"Uh... 1345...desle rd...no 4513 esled rd, crap um." Her face scrunches as she rubs her temples.

"Shit." I hit the steering wheel, quickly making a right.

I guess I'm going home.
