Third person POV
Damon paced back and forth outside her house for what seemed like forever. He couldn't bring himself to knock or even ring the doorbell. His thoughts were consuming him by the second until Lylah's mother opened the door.
Damon's POV
"Wh- Damon?"
"Hi. Um is Lylah home?"
"In her room." She jabs her finger over her shoulder and steps aside for me. "Good luck." She waves before stepping outside.
Good luck? Wow I really fucked up.
I climb the stairs and make my way to her door. I get stuck again and find myself just staring at her door. My palms were sweating as I held these stupid flowers trying to steady myself.
Third person POV
He finally built up the courage and started banging on her door.
"What the hell , stop banging like the police!" She yanks open the door with her anger quickly turning into fear. "W-what are you doing here?" She gawks up at him for a few seconds then looks towards his sophisticated clothing.
"Here." He quickly shoves the flowers into her face and walks past her into the room.
"Ow! You come here to throw flowers at me!"
"Stop whining and be grateful I'm even here." He takes a seat on her bed.
"What do you even want?" She places her hands on her hips and glares back at him.
"I came to apologize but now I don't know if I should." He glares back.
"What?" Her face softens at his words but she continues to keep her distance .
"I shouldn't have ghosted you, it's just... going to two funerals so close together took a toll on me."
"I get it."
"I also made you miss the homecoming dance tonight, I know you were excited to go and if they sold tickets at the door I swear I'd take you."
"You needed time to grieve. I'll get over it." She sighs and leans back against the door.
"I thought I could help by dancing with you... y'know here... in your room. I hope a party of two is okay." His eyes dart across the room, looking everywhere but directly at her.
"Sure." She gives a ghost of a smile.
"Fair warning though, I have no fucking idea how to dance- like at all." He stands to his feet , dusting himself off.
"You are so cute sometimes, once you get past all the insults and leather." She shrugs.
"Shut up and dance for me." He rolls his eyes at her comment but reaches out for her hand anyway.
"I really missed you." She steps closer and helps guide his body back and forth.
"I know."
"Did you miss me... even a little bit?"
"Stop asking personal questions before you get your feelings hurt." He grumbles, clenching his fists into the silk material of her night dress.
"Hm, I didn't hear a no." She giggles to herself as they sway back and forth.
"I thought I told you to shut up." He looks down at her and gives her face a small slap. "Even though I'm not myself right now, I think your annoying presence is enough to keep me sane - enough for tonight anyway."
