Third Person POV

Damon knew something was wrong, no real proof of course. There was just a feeling- almost like a tight knot growing inside of him. He ignored it at first hoping it would go away on its own. He was too busy grieving his brother and best friend to deal with it. Talking to Lylah helped numb the pain but it seemed like the better he thought he was getting the worse she got.

Sometimes she'd just smile at him, it wasn't her usual one where he felt lusted after. It was sad and confusing that he couldn't figure it out. She suggested therapy after that weird night and he actually took it into consideration. He couldn't keep dumping his problems on her forever.

After the first awkward session he cried again on his way home. He made a last minute decision to turn around and go to Lylah's. He thought he was getting over it but he wasn't, he needed his girlfriend. He called Lylah but she didn't answer the first few times.

On the third call she answered.

"Hey..."

"Where are you? Please tell me you're home."

"Damon... you shouldn't come here. I-I won't be here."

"What why?" He gulped harshly trying to focus on the road. He knew what was coming, she finally got sick of him. She was breaking up with him.

"I'm not... good help. I tried to take care of you but I'm not doing a good job. So I'm gonna do right by you. Something I should have done a while ago." Her voice was cracking over the phone.

"Lylah, please just let me see you. Don't end it with me through a fucking phone call!" His eyes were blurry again and his foot pressed down further on the gas.

"Trust me you're the one that's gonna end it with me. I can't go back in time to undo what I did but I can punish myself for it. Damon I love you so much, even when you-"

"No fuck that! Whatever you did you can tell me in person! I'm not doing this!" He quickly ended the call in a frenzy and continued speeding to her house, ignoring her calling him back ten times.

He couldn't breathe but he refused to pull over and calm down. He realized it didn't exactly sound like a breakup but worse? What could be worse? Did she cheat? Steal? Get pregnant? What had her crying so bad she had to tell him over the phone?

Lylah stared at the phone with blurry eyes once she realized he had no intention of hearing her out.

This is it.

The final showdown.
