Damon's POV
I walk into the kitchen to see my mom making herself coffee.
"Good morning."
"Yeah mornin' mom."
"Damon, I hate to bother you with this but have you seen your brother?"
"No, I'm sure he's staying with a friend or something."
"That's what I'm thinking but he normally gives me a heads up."
"I'm sure he's fine mom, he's not a little boy anymore, he's almost twenty four years old." I roll my eyes and pour myself some orange juice.
"Yeah you're right."
///
I drag my feet to my locker and rest my head against it for a few seconds.
"Hey, Damon right?"
I slowly look up to see the black haired boy that Lylah hangs with.
"You here to fight me too?"
"Nah, I just wanna pick your brain about something."
"Me?" I lean against my locker waiting for his response.
"It's about Lylah. I've noticed you two are getting along now... I just didn't want you to get your hopes up."
"W-what the hell are you saying?"
"Think about it, have you actually seen her real hair? Has she ever had a nose bleed? Wonder why she's so tired all the time? Why she misses school, I don't even think she came today." He's rather calm.
"I- I don't understand? What the hell are you implying bastard!"
"No need to get angry at me, I'm just trying to save you before it's too late." He pats my shoulder and walks in the opposite direction.
That's one strange guy.
///
I don't need to do this.
She's fine.
I close my laptop and toss it next to me.
Fuck it.
I grab the laptop again and start searching the things her friend brought up.
Illness- 20+ results.
Sickness- 25+ results.
Cancers-60+ results.
She wouldn't keep something like this from me, she wouldn't chase after me in the first place if she was sick.
Everyone knows you aren't supposed to google symptoms. I need to get a hold of myself, I'm not letting that guy get into my head. There's no doubt the redhead put him up to this bullshit.
I quickly dial her number and wait for her to pick up.
"Hey, what are you doing up?"
"Oh I just wanted to hear your voice, were you sleeping?"
"You wanted to hear my voice, yeah right. No I was up."
"Hey random question, when are you going to let me see you without a wig?"
"Oh um, I don't know why?"
"Just wondering."
"I like my wigs." Her voice sounds slightly annoyed.
"Alright no biggie. What are you doing up so late?"
"I was... I was just thinking."
"About what?"
"Why do you fight?"
"Oh that's easy, the money."
"That's it?"
"Yeah, it's a good stress reliever too."
"Wanna give me lessons sometime?" She gives a soft laugh.
"First driving now boxing, God you're needy. I guess I can squeeze you into my busy schedule." I joke.
"Thanks I'm forever grateful." She gives a dramatic sigh.
"Well I'll let you get some rest."
"Damon... okay goodnight."
"Something wrong demon?"
"No, I'll see you tomorrow." She quickly hangs up on me, not even waiting for my goodbye.
She's going to drive me crazy.
