Damon's POV

It was very surprising that the devil girl didn't make a big deal out of the ride I gave her a few days ago, nor did she bring up being at my place.

Sure she spoke to me but she also kept her distance. I don't trust her.

I try not to think about it too much though, the last thing I need is a distraction.

///

After school, Joaquin and I went to the arcade to play a few games, well I played and he watched and talked about a few things for the next fight coming up.

Once the sun set, we decided to part ways. I got a weird feeling in the pit of my stomach when I watched him pull off.

It was only a matter of time until he forgets about me completely. I mean I get it, I'm forgettable.

He has a new life now I understand.

"Hey there's that danny zuko motherfucker!"

I turn around to a punch in the jaw.

"You should have let Sef win you piece of shit!" Another punch to the rib.

There were at least five guys ready to kill me.

Then everything went black.

When I woke up, my body was aching and cold and Lylah was staring at me in the rain.

"Sorry I'm late handsome." She gave a creepy grin.

"You're the last person I wanna see." I spit out.

"Who did this to you? I didn't get a chance to see their faces." She ignores my earlier words, she places her hand in her rain coat as if she were holding something: Her phone maybe?

Lylah's POV

"Lylah would you cut it out!"

"I'm serious dammit!"

He fell backwards, falling back down on his bottom.

He was weak.

"What the hell is up with you! Speak dammit!"

His eyes held angry tears as he glared up at me. His fists were clenched tight around his jacket. His face was turning red, either from the rain or anger.

Anger displacement.

I plop down on my knees and reach out to touch his scratched cheek but he nudges my hand away, quickly wiping his cheek with the end of his sleeve.

"You need to go."

He pulls his hood up slightly, making strands of hair flop over his nose. He wasn't a bad boy at all- on the inside at least.

Why does he carry this fake persona?

Sure he was a bit rough and cruel but that was it.

I crawl towards his shaking body, placing a hand on his thigh.

"Please- I can't." He mumbles, shutting his eyes tight.

Was he... giving in?

I remove my hand and he squints one eye open. His shoulders slightly relax signaling he understands that it wasn't my motive to touch him in that way.

I push the small knife further down into my pocket and stand to my feet, offering out a hand. He looks away from me for a second before grabbing it.

"I can't let you love me." He bends down to my ear.

I look straight ahead and grab a chunk of his sleeve, knowing he wouldn't let me guide him by hand.

It seems as if I'm the only person he's truly scared of.

Even after being jumped, being knocked unconscious, left for dead, he's still more afraid of me.

I smile to myself, walking ahead slightly so he couldn't see my face.

He's the only one that can see through me, that's what makes him so different from the others. This is a game I will not lose, I just have to change some rules.

I'd be scared too if I were him.
