Chapter 16

"Hey, thanks for having me." Kat says while giving me a hug. Her eyes are bloodshot red. It seems like she has been crying. She is sitting on my couch in my bedroom while eating some brownies which I had prepared earlier.

"No problem, Katrine." I smile at her.

"Mmm, I really love these brownies, you should bake more for me next time." she says and we both laugh. I'm kind of excited having someone over. It's my first time having a real friend come over!! A girl friend to be precise.

"Katrine, if anything is troubling you, you can tell me, alright?" I assure her.

"Yes, thank you Scarlette." she starts hesitating but she soon gathers her courage and tells me, "Actually, I just found out that my boyfriend was cheating on me." she tells me as she looks on the floor.

"You had a boyfriend??" I ask, definitely surprised. I thought she was single.

"Yeah.. I never really talked about him because we were supposed to be taking a break but today, I decided to have a talk with him so I went to his place and caught him with someone else on his bed." she says while tears start flowing.

"Hey..don't cry." I approach her and hug her.

"I never thought that he would do this to me." she says in her hoarse voice and I feel really bad for her. She is such a good person why would her boyfriend cheat on her?

"Shush..it's okay Katrine. You are stronger than that." I tell her. Feeling kind of worried for her, I muster the courage to invitr her to stay over.

"You can stay over if you want." I add.

"Thank you for being here." she says as she hugs me.

"Yes, don't worry." I pat her.

"Anyway, he was always a jerk to me." she says.

"Oh.. "

"I just regret that I have loved him, he wasn't worth it." she states.

"Does he go to our campus?"

"No, he goes to Wingtone campus." she says. "Anyway, I must say that your room is very beautiful and neat compared to mine. I mean, your house in general is beautiful and big." she adds.

"Hahah, thank you." I smile.

"Are you rich or something?" she asks.

"Humm we can say that." I state and we end up laughing.

We talk for a while and I tell her a bit about my parents, not everything, I just tell her about their business and about us moving to Canada. She talks about her family as well. She has only her mom, her father died when she was only 10 years old, so her mum remarried and now lives far from here. Then Katrine took an apartment to live on her own.
Overall, Katrine seems like a nice person and she is full of adventures and wild things.

"Kat, are you hungry?" I ask her. It's already dinner time. We talked for so long that we didn't notice how the time passed quickly.

"Not really." She says.

"Are you sure?" I ask.

"Yeah, I'm just craving for some ice-cream."

"I have ice-cream. I will get it for you." I tell her.

"Oh okay, thank you." she smiles while following me to the kitchen.

"You didn't have to come with me." I tell her.

"Yeah but I wanted to give you company." she teases.

"Duh, anyway here's your ice-cream." I hand her a cup of vanilla ice-cream and take one for myself.

"Thank you ma'am." she smiles.

After that we go back in my room and I make arrangement for us to sleep. I let her sleep on my bed as it is quite big. Also, she wouldn't be able to sleep on the couch.

"Good night, Scarlette."
"Night, Kat."
