Chapter 26

(Scarlette's POV)
After my class, I wait for Nico.

"Hey." I wave at him.

"Hey Scarlette." He says while approaching me.

"How was your class?" I ask.

"Oh, it was okay I guess.." he says with a small smile.

"Haha, right. So anyway, let's head to the cafeteria." I tell him and he nods. "Look, these are my friends." I tell Nico pointing to our usual table.

"Okay." he smiles at me. We walk towards them and we take a seat.

"Hey guys." I greet.

"Hey Scarl." Zayn says.

"This is my friend, Nico." I introduce. "He just arrived." I add.

"Hey Nico, I'm Sarah." Sarah says while Kat whispers to me, "You got a hottie huh?" she wiggles her eyebrows. "No." I whisper back.

"Hey, nice to meet you." Nico says.

"Same here." Sarah says. Is she really blushing right now?

"Yo, what's up?" Zayn says.

"Nothing much. What about you guys?" Nico asks.

"We were was just waiting for Scarlette. By the way I'm Katrine, you can call me Kat." Kat winks at him.

"Sure." Nico smiles while resting his head on my shoulder. My heart stumbles a little recalling how he would always do this back in New York. I don't mind at all by his friendly gesture but the others seem to be confused. I explain to them that Nico is my best friend from New York and then they understand our friendly chemistry. It is normal for them. Even Sarah used to hold hand with Zayn. There's nothing romantic about it.
They all keep talking to Nico and they seem to be having fun interrogating him about why he moved suddenly, where he is from, and how did he became friend with me, ect..

However my mind isn't here. I keep thinking about last night...

I have so many mixed feelings when it comes to Zac.. I just cannot understand him at all.. I am so engrossed with my thought that I don't realize how he passes in front of me along with his friends. I stare at him nervously. As always, he is still very attractive and still in his black outfit. Suddenly he meets eyes with me. He stares back at me for a few seconds before his attention falls on Nico who is still resting his head on my shoulder. His face expression changes. What was that?  I don't know what came over me but I quickly jerk away Nico's head off me. He seems to be satisfied and looks away with a smirk while Nico looks at me puzzled.
What the hell is wrong with me? I watch him and he is sitting with two guys. The blond guy whose name is Erik and an unfamiliar guy who has brown hair. They are sitting at a table which is in front of me and Zac is facing towards me. I keep staring at him and occasionally I find him stealing quick glances at me. Each time, we make eye-contact, he looks away.

"You okay, Lily?" Nico asks me. Lily is a nickname which he once gave me when we were playing in the garden and I was angry that he had stepped on a Lily flower. I was very fond of Lilies at that time. So since then he calls me Lily.

"Yeah, I'm fine." I smile at him.

"Lily??" Kat exclaims.

"Yeah, she's a beautiful Lily, don't you think?" Nico smiles and I blush.

"Yeah, she is." Kat says, smiling widely.

"Anyways, what class do you have, Nico?" Sarah asks him.

"English class with Mrs Jacobs." he says checking at his time-table.

"Oh okay, well I will get going, see you guys later." Sarah says.

"Yes, me too." both Kat and Zayn say in union.

"Okay. See you guys later." I wave at them and so does Nico.

"Your friends are nice." Nico says after they leave.

"Yes, they are." I smile. "Anyway, let's head to our next class."

"Yeah, let's go."

I take my seat next to Liam, like always. The teacher introduces Nico to the whole class. The girls are checking him out. It's true, Nico is very attractive so I don't blame them. The teacher asks him to take a seat and he heads towards Zac who is looking at him with disgust. Oh no. Before I can stop him, he is already seated there.

I watch both of them, he tries to handshake Zac but it seems that Zac didn't return the gesture and instead says something to him.  I start panicking.

"What's wrong?' Liam whispers to me.

"Well Nico is sitting next to Zac." I say worriedly.

"So what?" Liam asks curiously. I tell him everything about the toilet incident, the party and when I went to his place. I also tell him about how he behaved at the cafeteria some while ago. He listens carefully and then after sometimes he says,

"Don't worry, all will be okay." he assures me.

"I hope so." "Liam, are you angry that I kissed him?" I ask him and he studies me for a few seconds and then replies.

"No, but be careful." he says not making eye contact with me.

"Be careful of what?" I ask but he just responds with a smile.

I bring my attention to Zac and Nico. Both of them seem to be talking and I find myself very curious. What are they talking about?? I need to ask Nico.

One hour later the class ends and Nico walks to my table followed by Zac.

"Here, you left this at my place." Zac says handing me a small box.

"Oh okay." I say confused. I never left any box. Not that I remember. What is that? I'm about to open when he approaches and whispers in my ears.
"I prefer that you open it at home, alone." With that he turns around and leaves the classroom.
