Chapter 39

Scarlette's POV

"Here is your ice-cream, Lily." Nico says while handing me my coco flavour.

"Looks delicious." I say while licking my lips.

"Haha, it's all yours, silly." He pats my head and I fake a pout. We eat in silence and I look elsewhere, caught in my own little world. The wind is blowing and I feel so peaceful. I stay like this for god knows how long until,

"Hey, Lily." Nico says looking at me with a serious expression on his face.

"Yeah?"

"I'm moving in one week. Your dad found an apartment for me two days ago." he says looking sad.

"Oh." is all I can say. Why does he look so sad about it? "You aren't happy?" I ask him and he stares at me for a moment before finally speaking again,

"I- I will miss you.." he says and I frown,

"I'll miss you too, dummy. But we will see each other everyday. You may also come home whenever you like." I smile at him.

"Yeah but.."

"But what?"

"I wanted to say that I lov-" before he can say more someone starts clearing their throat.

"Well - well. Hey lovebirds." the person says from behind and I freeze. What the hell is he doing here?
Zac is looking at us with a bottle of beer in his hand. He is wearing a black t-shirt with torn black jeans. He is wearing his usual cap in reverse. Our eyes meet and I look at him trying to forget about that kiss scene. My heart is clenching right now but I try to deny my feelings.

"Did I interrupt you guys?" he says leaning towards me. He whispers into my ears and I look at him in shocked. How dare he? Before I'm about to answer him Nico interrupts us.

"What are you doing?" Nico asks, trying to pull me away from him. But Zac grabs hold of my hand and he looks at Nico, with a dark expression that I cannot read.

"Don't touch her." Zac says and I look at him confused. But then, recalling what happened before, I quickly remove his grip on me before saying,

"Excuse me, don't you dare touch me!" I yell at Zac and he looks at me puzzled. I quickly approach Nico and he puts his hands on my shoulders. Zac looks at us with his dark expression.

"Why?" he asks looking quite hurt.

"Because she said so!" Nico says standing in front of me.

"Don't you dare mind our business." Zac says through gritted teeth.

"What did you-" before Nico can finish his sentence I quickly get in between them and I address my words to Zac.

"What do you want Zac??" I say angrily.

"Nothing. Go fuck each other!" he snaps at me and leaves.

What the hell was that??
"Nico go home. I will go talk to him."

"No way, I am leaving you with him!" he exclaims.

"Nico just go!!" I shout.

"Okay, very well! Enjoy with him then!!" he shouts at me before leaving. However, I am not bothered about him right now as I try to run after Zac.

I spot him at the cornor of the street, standing while drinking his bottle. I quickly approach him before I start exploding,

"You!! What the heck is wrong with you?? Why did you whisper to me that I'm trying to seduce him???" I say angrily. But he looks at me and then looks away. He is totally ignoring me right now.

"I am talking to you!!" I snap angrily.

"Yeah so?" he replies, while drinking his bottle.
what the heck..

"It's rude not to reply when someone is talking to you!" I say and he starts laughing.

"I don't care. Go away." he says.

"Yeah, I'm going! Not interested in staying with a womaniser." I snap angrily before turning away and leaving.

He suddenly grabs ahold of my hand before spinning me around and pinning me to the cornor. He is looking at me with a dark expression and I feel so scared right now. My heart is beating rapidly. He looks so unfamiliar and dangerous right now.

"What did you say?" he says gritting his teeth. I just stare at him unable to talk.

"I- "

"You are the whore here, fucking both Liam and Nico." he says and I don't know what came over me but I had to.
My hand makes contact with his left cheek and tears already starts trying to come out.

He looks at me with his now big eyes. It's as if he wasn't expecting that but I don't care anymore. He crossed his limits. He shouldn't have said something that people kept taunting me about in the past.

"You are such a jerk!!" I say, not realising that I'm already crying. "They are the only ones who care about me. If I hang out with them, doesn't mean that I fuck them!"
I shout and he looks at me with regret.

"I'm sorry. I didn't mean to say that." he says but I quickly answer back.

"No you meant that! You are no diffferent than the others. I regret that I fell for someone so heartless." I exclaim.

He looks at me in shocked as he tries to talk to me,

"You fell for me?" he asks.

"It doesn't matter, Zac!" I say while crying.

"Hey, don't cry, please." he looks at me as his eyes soften. He wipes off the tears as he tries to hug me.

"Don't you dare touch me." I say with my hoarse voice.

"Why?" he looks hurt.

"I saw you sucking that bimbo's face." I say and he looks shocked.
