I woke up the next morning to the sound of the doorbell loudly echoing throughout the house. Getting up from the couch, where I had fallen asleep the night before wasn't easy and I stumbled to the door. As soon as I unlocked it, Emily ran past me and into her bedroom. Jared stood there with his hands in his pockets. "Are you okay?"

"I just woke up!" I said groggily, rubbing my tired eyes. He simply walked past me into the house.

"You weren't answering your phone and I was a little worried." Picking up the empty wine bottle from the floor, he turned to look at me. "Did you really drink the whole bottle?"

Sighing, I shrugged. "I don't want to talk about this right now Jared!" I moved into the kitchen to get away from him, but he only followed me.

"I'm not judging you, I was just asking and I really was concerned when you didn't answer or at least call me back."

"Spare me. You were concerned? Whatever." I snarled at him, rolling my eyes. Where did he get off telling me that he was worried about me. He surely wasn't worried about me when he was screwing another woman.

He raised his voice at me. "I'm going to take Emily back with me, you are in no condition to care for our daughter today."

"Look, I said that you could keep her last night, but she needs to be here with me." I snapped right back at him, holding myself back from lunging at him and giving him a long overdue smack to his perfect face.

He hung his head down and let out a deep breath, leaning on the chair in front of him. "Listen, I'm honestly not trying to be difficult, but you've obviously had a rough night. I'm going to take her to do something fun today. You can rest and shower and if you want to pick her up later, then fine, but let me take her."

I rubbed my eyes and nodded, knowing that he was right. It pained me to admit he was right about anything. "Let me see her first," I said, struggling to hold back tears.
He walked past me and up to her room. A few minutes later he returned holding her hand. "Give mommy a hug."

I leaned down, giving her kisses as I instructed her to have a good time with her father. She had more new clothes on and I rolled my eyes at him for not obeying my request of no more clothing. Emily was four and owned more clothes than anyone I'd ever met in my life. As they were walking out the door, he turned around and looked at me, "Call me later."

"Fine," I frowned, closing the door behind them. After taking a shower, I napped for a while. When I got up, I went grocery shopping and finally broke down and called him. He let me know that they were with Shannon and I could hear her having fun in the background. I screwed myself by agreeing to let him keep her again that night. I was all alone again, but this time instead of drinking, I watched a movie to try and keep my mind off of him. I knew that I'd inevitably fall asleep on the couch again. Some nights, I couldn't sleep in that big bed all alone to save my life. The memories of him being next to me seem to haunt me late at night and sometimes, I ended up in Emily's room with her. I hated being home alone.
