A few days had gone by since my date with Matt, and he and I had been texting, a lot. He was really sweet and I was definitely attracted to him. It was nice to be able to have a real conversation with a man without having them make a sexual remark about every word that came out of my mouth.

I hadn't seen Jared, but he was due to pick up Emily soon. His mother would be keeping her for the weekend and then he would have her Sunday night. I was beginning to feel cheated that I had to share her so much. When his mom called and asked if she could have her over the weekend, I felt bad. She and I had always been close, but this separation put a serious strain on our friendship. She was welcome to have Em whenever she wanted, I trusted her completely, l had no reason not to, but I refused to allow it to interfere with my time.

I was so exhausted after running errands all day with Emily, all I wanted to do was get home and relax. When we pulled up at the house, I was shocked to see Jared there already. 'Great,' I mumbled to myself. As soon as the car came to a stop, I jumped out and pulled her from her car seat. She instantly greeted him, happily darting in his direction. He rolled up his sleeves and picked her up, carrying her back over toward me.

"I didn't even pack her bag yet." I complained, turning my back to him and rolling my eyes as I grabbed the bag of groceries and headed to the front door.

"So I'm a little early, I missed her. How was your date by the way?" I knew that he was going to have to say something about it.

"Great actually. He asked me out again for tomorrow night." Part of me wanted to rub it in his face. I wanted to hurt him like he hurt me. I knew it was childish, but he provoked me.

"Really? And does this guy know that you are still legally married to me?" He inquired, matter of factly.

We walked in the house and I looked at Emily. "Baby go your room and play, mommy needs to talk to daddy for a minute." I waited until she was out of sight before speaking again. "Did the whore you fucked know that you had a wife and daughter back at home? I'm just curious since you're doling out advice." I viciously shot back, knowing that it was a shitty thing to say, but I couldn't stop myself.

Licking over his bottom lip, he looked away. He let out a deep breath and folded his arms. That vein under his eye was so prominent as he was struggling to maintain his composure. "Are you going to bring that up forever? It's over! I fucked up, okay!" He raised his voice and then rubbed the obvious tension from his eyes. He walked over to the window and stared out, resting his forehead against his arm. I went into Emily's room to pack her bag. I could feel the anger inside of me continuing to build and I needed him to get out before I exploded, again.

"Come on Emily, daddy's taking you to Nana's." I picked up the bag and handed it to Jared. I leaned down and kissed and hugged my daughter.

"Have a good time on your date tomorrow night." He said sarcastically just before taking Emily's hand and walking out to his truck. The look on his face still crushed me. I missed him and I hated myself for it. I refused to respond to his comment, instead, I just watched him put her in the car seat. It's funny that I still catch myself checking him out as he leaned over, grabbing the seatbelt to put around her. Realizing what I was doing, I turned and walked back inside not wanting to be spotted by him.

Feeling alone and more depressed than ever, I went to my mothers and she and I went out for dinner. Not wanting to spend another night alone in that house, I stayed at mom's.
