"I'm eagerly waiting to know who my characters will be," I thought to myself as I went to my school in my dad's car the next morning, "So I can get to play with them like my dolls... especially since its obvious Paige will be the main actress, I'll kill her at the beginning of the play." I laughed to myself.

"I could make her death be the reason of the conflict between the whites and the blacks, she won't need much appearance then."

"I know that look," my dad interrupted me from myself, "What are you up to?"

"Nothing dad," I said in my innocent voice smilling. The good bit was we had arrived at school and I quickly alighted from the car before he asked more questions.

"Bye daddy!" I shouted from a far.

"That was a close one," I said to myself.

"What was?" Kelsie asked, startling me.

"Uh... its really nothing. How have you been?" I said trying to divert things.

"I've been good. How is the script coming along?"

"It's coming along great. Better than I expected." I said flipping the pages of the script. "And its all thanks to you. I owe you."

"What? No. You're the one who came up with the storyline I just added a few bits and pieces. "

"And this is what creates the best stories. How about you help me out later today?"

"And what's in it for me?" She asked.

"A milkshake works?"

"I'm sold!" She said giving me an unnecessary handshake.

"Today after our violin class." I told her as I got into my math class.

"But I..." I could not hear her final remarks but after violin class it is!

I spent the whole day looking forward to the drama club meeting like I did on every other day.

The time finally arrived for the meeting. Everyone was to arrive having made a decision on the characters of actors and actresses. The votes were cast.

"Where's your vote?" Mr. Paisely asked me.

"I'm the script writer. I don't vote, do I?

"Of course you do. Everyone does. Even me!" He said as he cast his vote.

I quickly took a piece of paper, looked around, looked at the piece of paper and looked around again.

Tamara - main actress.

Dale - main actor (of course,
why not?)

Paige - unsure but would do as
Tamara's maid.

Terrence - Tamara's dad.

I continued and finished the list then cast my vote. Mr. Paisely tallied as we talked about the play.

"I hope you get the main role," I told Tamara.
"Thanks, I hope so too." She said crossing her fingers.

"Ahem!" Mr. Paisely exclaimed waving the final results in the air.

"Listen up. I'll be fast."

The atmosphere was heated up; for those who wanted the roles. I just laid back planning the next scene in my mind with my notebook and pen.
I can't let my ideas go like that.

Chris was the best friend to the white boy, who was definitely Dale.
Terrence was the black girl's father.

"Paige will be the white boy's mother and Kristie is the black girl. Let us begin!"

"What!" Both Paige and I exclaimed. Finally, something we both had in common.

"But how? I didn't vie for..."

"You don't have to vie for anything. Like I said, the decision lies with the members. They reveal your potential," Mr. Paisley said sounding like those old mysterious monks.

"You can confirm the results. Here are the votes."

Paige quickly rushed over to his desk. I let her do all the work.

" 'Maid?' This is clearly not a serious vote. Another 'maid?' "

I laughed silently and even harder hearing it twice!

"Besties!" Tamara told me. She was the best friend to the black girl who I still could not believe was me.

"I shouldn't have voted her
'maid' " Tamara whispered, "She looks devastated!"

"I voted her maid too! Besties indeed!" I whispered back, fist bumping her.

We started off with the first scene where the family of the white boy tours the land of the blacks. It's basically the introduction.

There is also a glimpse of the family of the black girl.

Immediately after Mr. Paisley dismissed us, Paige came marching towards me.

"Even you know this isn't on me."

"Is it Kristie, is it?"

"Really, it isn't! " I said with my hands in the air.

"Watch your back Kristie!" She threatened, "Because payback is coming, and it's coming hard!" She said as she banged the desk near her, then she walked out.

"Ignore her," Tamara said.

"She's the least of my worries now." I said.

"I'm almost late for my violin class! I'll see you tomorrow," I told Tamara before running across the hall trying to get to Mrs. Sydney's class as fast as I could.

This routine was tiresome. I got in there in time but Kelsie was nowhere to be seen.

"She will be in big trouble if she doesn't get here soon," I thought to myself.
