KRISTIE'S POV
I woke up feeling anxious. It would be my first day at work. The Starks Alley. I had never dreamed of working there because of it's highly regarded reputation. I took a shower then I picked out the clothes that would give me an executive look. I realized that the house was so quiet and for the first time in many years. I was all alone at the moment.
The door bell was rung and I rushed to the door. It was Kelsie. She was my ride.
"We need to go right now or else we'll be late!" She said, looking at my outfit, "I have other clothes in the car for you. That won't work."
"Come on! I look like a CEO in this!" I retorted as we left the house. I got in the back seat after Kelsie showed me where the clothes were. She drove off as I changed into the clothes.
"So, about the job..." Kelsie begun, "I showed my uncle the script that you wrote for the Drama Club Competitions and he was so thrilled, he just had to get you employed straight away. He's just going to interview you and the job is all yours."
"Interview? I'm not prepared for an interview!"
"Take a breath. It's nothing serious. You'll see."
"Did he say anything about my housing?" I asked.
"My uncle will clarify everything after the interview," she said, "I really like that outfit on you. Wear this necklace with that." She handed me a necklace with a 'K' on it.
"Is this K for Kristie or Kelsie?"
"Kelsie of course."
"I like Kristie better. It's Kristie!" I said as I took off my halved necklace, the one I bought before Lindsey went to Egypt.
"Lindsey!"
"Lindsey?" Kelsie said clearly full of surprise.
"Yeah. My precious dog. I need to look for her buyer and claim her back."
"We're here!" Kelsie exclaimed as she parked in front of a really tall skyscraper with two gargoyles holding a flame.
"You own this too?" I asked clearly amazed by it.
"I t started out as an alley where my uncle Kent and his friends got creative as a leisure activity. My uncle managed to go to art school and that's how he made it happen. The Starks Alley."
Kent was a renowned director, producer and actor for many decades. He had won several awards as well and he was, of course, a member of The Starks family.
"This is it!" Kelsie said as we stood in front of a closed door, "Are you ready?"
She didn't even let me answer. She opened the door and walked in.
"Uncle, we're here. I hope we're not too late."
"As if I expected you to be early. You are so similar to your mother," a man said coming into our vicinity.
"Hello, I'm Kent Starks!" Of course I know who you are. "Have we met before?" He asked, shaking my hand. I don't think I've shaken the hands of such a powerful man before.
"Remember that time you came home with some groceries? She was there with me," Kelsie answered after she realized that I was speechless.
"You're right! I'd never forget a face," Kent said, "Have a seat."
I took a seat in the nearest empty chair. I still could not believe that I was in the same room with Kent Starks!
"Kristine Bulero. Age 18. Eye color black."
"I... I should probably change that."
Kent moved closer to confirm that my eye color was indeed not black.
"You must be an imposter. The information in this document could not be a mistake."
"No sir! I...had an accident in school."
"So you're still in school?"
"I finished school last week."
"Which school were you in?"
"Sanders High."
"I see," he said confirming the information from my curriculum vitae.
The mood was tensed and I was shaking in my seat even though the interview seemed so informal. Kent, for one, was seated on top of his desk. He was also asking me random questions which weren't included in my C.V and really had nothing to do with the work such as, "What's your favorite animal?" or "Are you one of those vegans who eat pork?"
"I'm not even vegan."
"Do you like it when the moon looks like a toe nail?"
"Do you mean the crescent?"
"You're bright Kristie. Can I call you Kristie? Kristina is way too long!"
"My friends call me Kristie so of course you can."
"I guess we're friends now!"
"Can we please get right into the housing details?" Kelsie muttered.
"Oh yes! There is a nice for you in Crammer West. I hope you'll like it!"
I was excited that there was indeed a place for me and I knew it would definitely be a posh and lavish house. I could not wait to see it.
"Thank you so much sir!" I said.
"Call me Kent please. I will see you tomorrow early in the morning. There's a lot to be don't here. Those billions don't earn themselves! " Early in the morning? I hated mornings.
"Bye uncle. See you in the next family meeting!"
"Actually Kelsie, I expect to see you here as well. Your mom's orders."
"But I don't want a job here. I don't even know anything about acting or singing or writing!"
"You know how your mother is. Take it as an early retirement plan. Maybe it's your road to success."
"Or death," Kelsie was really upset.
"Be here tomorrow morning," Kent said firmly.
