I'd given her a quick tour of her room, which was the third room down from mine. It was a big room, so I knew she'd be comfortable.
By the look on her face, she seemed quite content with her space.
"Did she come home today?" Her voice was hopeful.
I smiled. She think she slick. I shrugged, "Let's get you cleaned up and comfortable, first and then we can talk about Tamika."
She frowned. "Day."
"Please?" I pleaded. She nodded, giving in.
Setting her bag on her bed, I helped take her jacket off. It was a little awkward.
Even with our history, I didn't know if she was alright with me being around to help her out.
I sat down next to her, "Ion know if you okay with me helping you out, so I got someone on standby to hop in for me..."
She shook her head. "Day, I appreciate it, but I'll be fine by myself. Can you help me get in the shower though."
I nodded, "Lemme go change real quick, I'll be back in a sec." I could tell from the hospital, that she was insecure about her post surgery body, so I left the room hoping it would help her a little.
Going into my room, I changed clothes, throwing some shorts on along with a wife beater.
Afterwards, I'd gone into Tamika's room which was right next to my room—in between me and Yona's room.
Her room was also big, but I didn't want her any further from us. During the last two weeks, I'd had the help of Porsha and Keem, with painting and setting Tamika's room up.
I'd ordered three cribs for her—one in my room, Yona's room, and of course her own room.
I'd read that abstract shapes and colors were good in helping babies with their vision development, so the walls were a complex example of it.
I'd had about three or four night lights plugged up for her. Her crib had been set up on the left side of the room, pink and rich brown was the main color—at least furniture wise.
We'd laid a colorful indoor "area rug", covering the majority of the floor space in the room for when she was able to play on the floor.
Up against the right side of the room was a changing station set up for her—the nurses at the hospital had given me lessons on changing diapers and bottle feeding.
There was even a couple of play mats in the corner waiting for her.
"Hey, Daystar." Porsha smiled. She pointed at me, Tamika in her arms, eyelashes batting. She cooed. "Look who came to visit, Tamika."
I grinned.
"Hey, baby girl," I sang softly, coming up and scooping her into my arms. She was still in her, sleep all day and only wake up to eat stage.
She cooed softly again, the smallest smile from her making my heart melt. "You the cutest." I kissed her forehead.
I glanced over at Porsha. "Thanks for bringing her home, I know you probably busy with your own stu-"
"Daystar, shut up. I'll always be here for both of y'all. That's not a problem. I just need you two, to hurry up and get on the same page."
I chuckled. "You don't give up." She shook her head, "Nah, fam."
"Preciate it, but we not getting back together." I rocked Mika in my arms for a few more seconds before handing her off to Porsha again.
"She's being stubborn about needing help, but I'm gonna try to help her get cleaned up before she spend some time with Mika."
She nodded. "If you want I can go help her." I shook my head. We had to get used to each other, if we wanted this to work—raising our girl together, so now was better than later.
I left the room heading over to Yona's room.
