Ayona

Day who'd been in front of me was suddenly on the ground, while Keem who'd been next to me, suddenly took shop in front of me.

"Get down, Yona!!" He reached for something behind him as my body coiled over Mika next to Day.

Two bangs sounded out consecutively, but closer this time. My ears rang. I reached for Day, my other arm protectively covering Tamika. She'd been wailing uncontrollably, no doubt startled by the gun shots.

"Day? Say something please." I glanced up, to my right hoping to find Keem in his previous spot, but he was gone.

Shit.

He had a gash on his head and his arm was bleeding profusely. The ringing had stopped but I didn't know if this had anything to do with Day or Keem and I couldn't let them get in any trouble.

"Tamika baby, it's okay Mommy's here." I cooed as I searched Days pocket for the keys to the sedan.

"Day, baby wake up." The keys jingled.

Aha.

I pulled them out, hitting the panic button to see if I could find the car.

Beep!
Beep!
Honk!!
Honk!!

Just off to my left, a couple parking spots down.

I looked around, it seemed the street was completely vacant. That made sense.

I couldn't leave Tamika out in the open, so I grabbed her quickly going over to the car.

I strapped her in, taking my t-shirt off, I had a tank top underneath it, before running back to Day.

I tore a long piece off, making a makeshift bandage, to wrap his arm with. Using what was left of my shirt, I tore another long long piece before bunching it up against the gash on his head and securing it.

It took a while, but I was able to drag him into the back seat, halfway through he'd gained consciousness helping with the rest of the process, his first priority had been Mika's whereabouts.

I started the sedan, backing it up. I'd never been a fan of big sized vehicles. I could barely see, let alone navigate them.

Short bitch problems.

He hadn't wanted to go to the hospital so I was going to have to figure it out when we got to the crib.

In the meantime, I had to get Keem. "Where Keem at?" Day asked, reading my mind.

"He went after whoever shot you."

"What?!" Day sat up in the quickly. "Shit, drop me off. I gotta go find him, he know better than to go doing shit like that by himself."

I shook my head, he was in no condition to be in the streets by himself. "Day, we'll find him together please." I glanced in the rear view at him. I locked the doors, my eyes warning him.

"I realize it now. I don't wanna lose you. Okay. Keem's gone be alright, he shouldn't have gone far, I promise."

"But—"

"Daystar, no! We have a daughter. I will not raise her by myself..."

He didn't say anything. "Now just look out that way and I'll keep an eye out for him here."

I cruised down the street, in the direction Keem had gone.

Two blocks down, I came to a halt in front of an alley way. I could make out two figures, one standing over the other.

"Stay with Tamika, pleas—"

"Yona, you lost ya fucking mind if you think—" he opened the door steping out and I did the same. "I'm just boutta sit in this car while you get yaself hurt, again."

By now we were basically nose to chest. "And I'm not letting you off when you probably have a concussion. Stay in the car with her."

I turned walking around the sedan towards the alley, "If you wanna be helpful and you're up to it drive cause I can't see shit."

I was probably going to make Keem drive, but still just so he wouldn't come after me.

I continued towards the body figures that were finally looking clearer with each step.

The alley smelled musty and damp. Nearby, a vent had steam rising from it, hence giving the mysterious vibe. Trash littered the area in scattered sections.

A sickening crunch filled the air. "I asked who the fuck sent you?" Keem growled.

Followed by silence from the other party, another punch landed. The sound of flesh and bone colliding, sounded.

"Who." Punch. "The fuck." Punch. "Sent you?"
