Daystar
"We love you baby girl."
"..."
"Alright, she knocked out for the night. I'm glad y'all call to help put her to sleep every night— she misses you two."
I glanced over at Yona, who looked exhausted. "Yea, we working on it."
After a few more words were exchanged between the three of us, good nights were said. We'd been in Yona's bed as we always were whenever it was time to put the angel to sleep.
Sparing her a glance as I stood up to leave, "Everything's gone alright." Things hadn't been how I'd wanted them to be and despite my encouraging words every morning at breakfast, they didn't seem to have the desired effect on her; she continued on emotionless.
Without answering me, she pulled her comforter higher up, turning to her back on me. I doubted she meant it as disrespect, but still, it felt like disrespect. I pulled her door shut, walking down the hall to my bedroom.
The more days that passed, the more disconnected she felt. She seemed.., I couldn't explain it, but she definitely wasn't herself and I needed to figure out what Shania was up to.
Fatigued, I took a seat at the edge of the bed. I was worried about her and even when I'd try to talk to her, I'd always get the same bullshit ass, "I'm fine". It was driving me insane, worrying about her; trying to figure out what was going on with her.
I wanted the key to her everything, but would this situation be the reason to break us up or would I be able to fix this somehow.
I'd been recently trying to weigh the consequences of contacting Shania, maybe she wanted money. If I could write a check and offer to keep her lavished in all the greatest, then maybe that would be one off our plate, but I knew that definitely wouldn't end well.
In case she wanted to contact me, I'd unblocked her from everything. Yona knew about it, but with the way she'd been so nonchalant, I took it she hadn't really given a fuck what I did.
Sitting in the apartment and doing nothing was making me restless. I got up sharply, reaching for my keys. After jotting down a quick note on a sheet of paper, leaving in the kitchen, I left the apartment.
I wasn't sure where I was headed, but all I knew was that if something didn't turn up, Yona and I, both were going to lose our minds.
