Ayona
After such a long shower, my body felt relaxed and now all I could think of was sleep.
As long as I'd spent in the hospital, I'd rarely been able to get a good night sleep—the anxiety of not being able to see Mika and the nightmares, was too much.
Slowly, after drying off, I stepped out of the shower, grabbing my robe.
I pulled my wet hair into a bun, the shampoo wasn't ideal, but it was better than nothing.
Leaving the bathroom, I walked into the room, where Day sat, waiting for me.
"Damn, thought I was gone have to come in there to check if you was still alive," he chuckled.
I smiled a little, "I didn't know you were waiting on me." He got up, already heading towards the door.
"Yea, had to be here just in case you needed me, but imma let you get dressed and then imma come back. Text me when you done." I nodded as he closed the door.
It wasn't until he'd left that I noticed there was a rocking chair where he'd been previously sitting.
Behind it was a crib, with a crib mobile that had animals on it, I smiled. I didn't know when I'd be able to see her, but I couldn't wait to finally hold her.
I turned around walking over to the dresser that was facing my bed. Inside were panties, shirts, and shorts—each in its own drawer. I grabbed one of each, putting them on before I threw the robe back on.
It was getting late and I didn't want to be the reason why Day, was still up so I texted him off my new IPhone 8.
During the stabbing incident my phone had been destroyed, terribly.
Me: I'm done.
As I waited for him, I threw on some lotion and moisturizer for my face. A knock sounded.
"Come in," I'd been sitting with my legs tucked under the sheets, when he walked in.
My eyes started watering, when I saw the bundle in his arms. "Is that—?" My voice trembled. He nodded, a smile on his face.
I was finally going to be able to hold her and see her, suddenly my heart pumped faster.
What if I'm a terrible mother? What if I can't love her right?...
The minute he set her in my arms, though they vanished. All the doubt, was gone. Immediately, I knew she would always be by my side, no matter what.
"She's gorgeous," I whispered. I'd scooted over so, Day could sit next to me. "She get it from her mama."
I smiled. Her eyes opened, gazing at me for a couple seconds, almost If to say, "now who the fuck is this?"
She looked confused for awhile, but a smile appeared on her face nonetheless. She gurgled.
"Ain't seen you smile like that in a long time." I looked up to look at him. The way he gazed at me, was familiar—not of lust, but maybe something close to love.
I ignored it though, "I'm just happy I can finally hold her," I leaned down to kiss her forehead.
For the rest of the night, I didn't sleep. Not because of nightmares, but cause now that she was in my arms, I didn't want to put her down.
