"Thank you, for taking the time to meet with us. We'll keep in contact, Mr. Peterson." All three of us stood up. After a few handshakes, they'd seen themselves out of the house.

I sat back down, elbows on the desk. I'd been in the den/ office that was located behind the stairs. As creepy as it sounded,  the decorator had managed to make it look, as some said, homey and inviting.

Since the incident, I didn't want to have to leave the house while she recovered, so this was the private space, set up for all of my affairs.

The two detectives that'd been working her case had just left and to say, I was barely holding on was an understatement.

Almost three months now and they still had no leads. There was a reason why, us hood niggas, didn't believe in the government, but I wanted to do things right by her and Mika.

I couldn't just up and start busting caps at niggas in the streets, when the consequences didn't just apply to me.

I had two other beings that relied on me to protect them and that's exactly what I planned to do.

Almost a week had gone by since Ayona had finally been able to lay her eyes on her daughter and I didn't want to be the reason for her to stress.

The two had been inseparable. Tamika, could barely stand an hour away from her mother and vice versa.

Thanks to Porsha, the three of them were out of the house, doing whatever females did to relax.

I thought about the conversation I'd had with the detectives and I had no idea what to do.

Ayona had barely wanted to talk to them when she'd woken up in the hospital, which was why I tried to answer any questions they had on my own. But still, I  wasn't much help.

From what I'd known, there was no way she had anybody that wanted to harm her, but at the same time, people were crazy.

There were cameras and DNA at the scene, but even then they hadn't much luck.

I scoffed, what's the point of having powers in high places, but you can't find the perpetrator that attacked an innocent pregnant woman.

But I bet if Yona, had been white, that nigga would've been found so fast. Sonic wouldn't have of had anything on them.

I needed to figure this out. As much as I wanted to do right by them, I also couldn't have people jeopardizing the safety of my family and getting

I had a choice to make and that choice had to be made fast.
