Lonely Guardian of Konoha [Completed]

CHAPTER 38

Within 10 minutes all three of them were at the gate packed and ready to leave, sgikamaru was his usual self as he laid down cloud watching while muttering something about troublesome travelling, while Sai was being creepy as he put on a obviously fake smile and stared at sasuke who was being oddly glum for him,

"OK so Sai I don't know your skills so you can be in the middle, sasuke you take the front be on lookout, and I'll take the back, this is a recon mission so I'm not expecting much trouble but just in case be ready, I'm expecting to be there by the end of the day and spend the night there alright?" Said shikamaru formulating his plan while accounting for variables that could rise,

Sai simply nodded as sasuke looked as if he was thinking, shikamaru didn't mind as sasuke started to take the lead as planned,

It didn't take as long as planned and they were at the iwa village faster than expected though it was still just a few hours to sunset,

Sasuke had run up ahead scouting while the other two came up behind, when shikamaru and Sai arrived at the gate sasuke was standing in front of the gate not moving.

"Hey sasuke what's up?" Asked shikamaru as he closed in on sasuke,

But soon enough he stopped as well along with Sai,

They were frozen with a mixture of fear, disgust and pure shock,

Naruto's words had come true, the village was painted in red, both figuratively and literally blood poured in the streets like rivers, men laid all around without arms or legs, heads lay lifeless, children, women, it didn't matter what age or gender, all the iwa villagers were killed, the three of them kept moving into the village, the killing had not stopped at the outer village, it had continued all the way, when they got to the center where the kage office was there, they started to see ninjas, iwa ninjas, dead iwa ninjas, it looked as if a massive battle happened there, iwa ANBU, jonin all had there last stand here, and at the middle of it all a spear was embedded in the ground with the kage's head placed on top of it, the headband a look of pure shock, they knew who it was as it still had the tsuchikage hat on it,

and on the stairs to the kage tower a figure was sitting, bowing his head as of to hide his face, his silver hair, now dyed red with blood dripping down acting as a mask over his face, his black clothes covered in blood, and at his feet was two deep red katanas embedded jato the ground, they seemed to glisten in joy, dripping with blood as if to smile towards the chaos that had occurred.

"Naruto!" Shouted sasuke as he started to run towards the figure,

Shikamaru immediately stopped him as he is out out a kunai,

"What are you doing? That's naruto" shouted sasuke,

"He did all this!" Screamed back shikamaru,

"So what!? You saw it too didn't you?"

"That doesn't justify all the villagers, and we don't know if he's calm yet"

Almost as if it were a reply to their argument naruto stood up, his hair still covering his face, his body waved from side to side as if unbalanced as he held his two swords, his swords that he held vanished into thin air as he walked forward without any balance, he passed shikamaru, sasuke and stopped next to Sai, Sai could see a little of his face that his hair had got out of the way, a deep cut in his mouth, and his teeth, no, fangs were shown and they were deep red, naruto seemed to grin at Sai's look of displeasure as naruto walked away towards the gate, however he only got a few feet before he fell down face first, unconscious with exhaustion.

"Now are ya happy?" Shouted sasuke as he ran to naruto, lifting him up to look at his face,

But as soon as he saw his face sasuke frowned, meanwhile shikamaru was examining the kage head,

"This isn't cut off, it's more like some wild animal ripped it off with its teeth" shouted shikamaru

Sasuke was silent as he looked at naruto, but Sai was the one to reply,

"It was no animal, it was your friend there"

Shikamaru raised an eyebrow while Sai showed him naruto as if to say see for yourself, and then shikamaru looked at naruto to see,

Naruto's face was red around his mouth, the inside of his mouth including his teeth and fangs were red with blood,

"Oh my god!" Shouted shikamaru,

But Sai ignored both of them as he took out a rope and started tying up naruto.

"What the hell are you doing?" Shouted sasuke,

"I don't care if he's your friend, I don't trust him" replied say calmly, as he covered naruto's mouth with a handkerchief,

Sasuke was a but reluctant but then accepted it as he took out an eye patch and put it on naruto.

After a while they had come out of the village and made a bonfire, they couldn't stay in the village due to the smell of the bodies rotting,

Naruto who was tied up and leaned on a tree had not woken up yet, and they had hunted a few rabbits to eat, no words were spoken as the horrors of what they had seen and discovered were too shocking, and in a way, the silence made it even more horrifying, as their thoughts reverbed thought the air unfiltered.
