“What should we name him?” I asked the next afternoon as soon as Nolan got home from work.
“Well hello to you to.” He said, setting his bag down.
“Sorry. Hi. What should we name him?” I said.
“Name who?” He asked, sifting through the mail on the counter.
“The baby, Nole.” I said, rolling my eyes,
“I don’t know…”
“Well that’s no help. We need to name him! I don’t want to keep referring to him as ‘the baby’ or ‘him’. I want to call him by name.”
“How far along are you?” Nolan asked, sitting next to me on the couch.
“17 weeks. Now what names were you thinking?”
“Can I go get comfortable first?” He asked.
“Yeah…but hurry back!”
“Yes dear.” He chuckled, getting up from the couch and walking upstairs.
The baby kicked lightly and I smiled down at my stomach; it was these tiny movements that made being pregnant rewarding.
“What are you smiling about?” Nolan asked. I looked up to see him standing in the doorway with a slight smile on his face.
“The baby kicked again.” I sighed happily. “So, names.” I said.
He chuckled and sat next to me. “You are really set on naming him today, aren’t you?”
“I am.”
“Names…let’s see…” he said, leaning his head back and staring at the ceiling. “How about Eli?”
“Hmm…no,” I said. “Max?”
“No. AJ?”
“That’s…I guess it’s cute.”
“You aren’t sold on it.”
I wrinkled my nose. “No.”
“Alright…Michael?”
“If our last name wasn’t Mitchell, I’d be all for that name. Aubrey?”
“What? No! We are not naming my son Aubrey.”
“Okay! Geez it was a suggestion!”
“A terrible suggestion.”
“Better than Eli.”
“What’s wrong with that name?” He asked.
“We both need to calm down.” I sighed. Getting angry wouldn’t get us anywhere.
“You’re right. Sorry.” He sighed. “How about Alex?”
“Nah. Seth?”
“Hmm…maybe.” I said. “We need to write this down!” I said, getting off the couch and grabbing a pen and a pad of paper. I wrote down ‘Seth’ and looked up at him. “Andrew?”
“…possibly.” He said and I wrote it down. “Sawyer?”
“I like that as a middle name.”
“Brayden?”
“That’s actually really cute.” I said, writing the two names down. “Uhh…Adam?”
He narrowed his eyes at me. “If you’re thinking of naming him after what’s-his-face on The Voice, no.”
“You mean Adam Levine?”
“Yes.” He said.
“Yeah…” I muttered.
“No.”
“Fine…how about Trevor.”
“No. Colton?”
“Maybe…Caden?”
“Possibly.” He mused.
“Okay…so far we have Seth, Sawyer, Brayden, Colton and Caden…These aren’t enough!” I said. “We need to buy a baby name book!”
“Now?” He groaned. “I just got back from work, and I’m so tired.” He groaned.
“Fine.” I sighed. “I’ll call up your mom.” I said, standing up and walking over to the phone.

“So what names have you decided on?” Mom asked as we scoured the store for the perfect baby books.
“Uhh…Seth, Sawyer, Brayden, Colton and Caden.” I said.
“Those are so cute! I have an idea. Why don’t you have five boys and you can name them that?”
“Uh…I’m content with just the idea of having one...I might possibly want one more, but I’m hoping it’s a girl.”
“So…I don’t get five grandsons?” She asked, looking disappointed.
“Well, you always have Alexis and Gavin.” I said and her face lit up with a smile.
“Oh yeah! I forgot about them.” She grinned. “Has he been kicking much?”
“Yesterday was the first time I’ve felt him, then I felt him again this afternoon.”
“That’s the most exciting part.” She smiled. “He’ll kick a lot more in the future.”
“I just want my baby.” I sighed. “I can’t wait for him to be here.”
“Oh, sweetie. There are going to be many, many days when you wish he was back in your stomach.” She said. “How about this one?” She asked, picking up a name book and handing it to me; I read the title and then flipped it to the back.
“Looks good.” I shrugged.
“Ooh! Baby clothes.” She cooed, walking over to the baby boy clothes. “These are so cute.” She practically squealed.
“Ooh! This is adorable!” I said, eyeing a green froggie shirt with darker green pants.
“He’s going to be super cute in that.” She grinned, taking it off the rack. “I’m buying it for you.”
“What? No! I can buy it.”
“Nonsense. Think of it as a gift from me to you.” She said, walking off.
“Thank you.” I said when I caught up with her.
“No problem. You look tired, are you alright?”
“Tired.” I yawned.
“We’ll buy this and then get you home.” She said, wrapping an arm around my shoulders.

Oh! And I think I know what I’m going to name their baby, but I’d love to hear what you want the baby to be named.
